are these NOT your words ?

and as you have chosen the venue for the challenge then it is my right to determine the manner in which it is fought... and I will bring just mysellf, and 1 mech, I seem to remember we captured an Intact Raven around here somewhere..... I do not thing it wise to waste good resources on a singular challenge...

So you feel a personal insult. Fair enough, you shall have your trial of grievance, since I do not think this matter particularly necessary to invoke surkai.

I am curious, however, about what you said by wasting resources. What is it that you consider to be a waste? Committing to an honour duel against a freeborn of the Inner Sphere will not gain you very much prestige among the Wolves nor will it shower you with honour... seems like a waste of resources to me. But that is only my personal thoughts on the matter.

Your Raven against my Crab then. I will fight and follow by the rules of engagement strictly adhering to your Clan culture.

Who am I to refuse a battle against a noble Clan warrior?
I still do not think he will gain much from the duel, whereas I on the other hand, will gain great honour not only to myself but for the Capellan Confederation and His Excellency as well as give greater hope to the rest of the Inner Sphere. There can be no prouder accomplishment for a warrior of House Liao - and it just might give me my Capellan citizenship that I have so desired (a small hope.)

@ Tifalia; I heartily recommend Eisen Unbegrenzt to fix any damaged incurred during said duel, We'll give you free parts and work if you win or half-price if you lose. I just checked with our warehouse manager, she says we have a few Dalban K's left, whether you need a replacement or a new one - we got it!

HAHAHAHA sorry this is just funny.

Funny but true. Caste sistem, eugenics program aiming to produce the ultimate clone warrior while removing the "family" out of the equation, and the total disrespect for elder warriors considered spent and washed out suitable only for suicide runs.

A society that has no concept of family values, thinks Darwin and is natural selection are wrong, and that experienced elderly people are useless, is a sick society indeed.

But i have to say i love the clan trials...
...because the clansmen spend more time killing each other, among their own and other clans, and that is a good thing ! ;)

Really, and where did you get that idea. What we originally used the iron wombs for, was to make sure the population, SURVIVED. We couldn't reproduce fast enough, to replace the population that we were losing. We had to resort to Eugenics to make sure the population survived, and as a by product, why not make the clones, as good as possible, because what is the point, of making a clone to carry on the surviving population, when said clone is full of defects, why not "gift" them since they were rejects to our society, abilities that make them stronger, more efficient. We originally tried to put these clones with families, but then decided that in order to help deal with the amount of hate that was put towards them, that we would create Sibkos, for them to live, that way they could grow up, and not have to deal with the rest of the populace putting all of their frustrations on them. It was NOT our goal to create them, our goal was to survive. I also hate Darwinism, but these Clans aren't after it, not in the beginning, and Clan Wolf has always treated freebirths fairly.

How did I misinterpret Darwin's ideas, Darwinism, is the pursuit of furthering evolution, through scientific manipulation, and therefore creating a master race. The biggest example that I can come up with at the moment is Nazi Germany. They worked to create a master race, not for the survival of their population as a whole. We had to come up with the Eugenics program in order to survive, we did not try to create a master race, at least, my clan did not, I cannot speak for the Crusaders in the room. We only tried to survive, and we succeeded, but in order to continue our survival, we needed to continue the Eugenics program. If you cannot reproduce babies fast enough to recover from the amount of dead your taking on, you will die out. So we had to, or risk the loss of everything. You think that I would support this if it wasn't necessary, HELL NO!! I absolutely hate trying to develop a master race, as we need to make sure humanity survives as a whole, not a select portion of it. That is why Alexander left, so that way he could take the most powerful weapons out of the hands of the Inner Sphere before they could come up with reasons to use them. It's like children trying to use guns to kill each other, but the parent quickly grabs them and takes them away, so you have to resort to using sticks to beat each other to death.

Yes, Darwin only said that genetic diversity was a good thing and if nature follows its path, life will find a way. Basically the contrary to what the clans are trying to achieve.

Maybe guardian wolf choice of words wasnt good, but i get the point of what he wanted to say.
Unfortunately when someone tries to play God, BAD things will happen... Bigfoot Elementals and melon heads aerojockeys... ;)

Roleplaying is fun. Besides what else is to do while we wait.
What battletech has great is that it has so many great factions you love to hate. For me Kuritans, Capelans and Clans its what makes this game fun.
If these great factions full of lore hadnt been created what fun would there be in the Federated Suns military life.

This humble but proud Fedrat proposes a toast to all the Kerensky Children out there...
That your lifes are fun and prosperous until we met in the field of battle... CHEERS ;)

The Raven is a pretty standard and popular 'mech so I would bet C-Bills on it being in-game.

There are many in the I.S who would be far better off under clan rule. I cannot remember where I read it but I know it was in one of the Periphery books where a "citizen" of one of the periphery states taken by the clans, the Oberon Confederation I think basically explains that no one in the successor states cared about him when he was yoked into slavery by bandits and had his family killed and goes on to say that things might not be perfect but the bandits were executed and things are at least fair now.

The battletech universe itself is not perfect, no government inside the story is without flaws. I find it funny that those in the I.S are crying tyranny when 2/5 of your states are brutal militaristic dictatorships. One of your states is so "free" that widespread rebellion, terrorism and dysfunction is so common it is barely in operation and the stands on the verge of anarchy. Another is so bloated with inefficient royal family members and political favorites in position of leadership it can barely accomplish anything, and the last exploits all the others in a constant game to keep them all like that.

Things are not as cut and dry as everyone wants them to be.

The only Clan I would even consider living under would be Clan Sea Fox/ Diamond Shark do to the fact that A: They treat Freeborn as equals with Trueborn. B: The cast system for them is really kind of pointless sense any one can move from one job to any other, once again Trueborn or Freeborn, doesn't matter. So you can be a janitor Freeborn but then decide you want to be a soldier and be really good, or you could be a Trueborn and decide you want to be a janitor. C: Trueborn and Freeborn can intermingle freely with out any one really thinking to much about it. D: They are democratic and very capitalistic as they don't fallow the dictatorial socialistic fascism that the other Clans practice.

Other then Clan Sea Fox/ Diamond Shark, no, I would not want to live in a Clan Society.

For me it really comes down to whether I fight for some little spoiled prince given his rank by birth, or a tried and true warrior who has actually earned it.
