The Nova, and the Mad Dog. Both are the Prime configuration.

Falconer here. For the invasion Omnis - Adder, Stormcrow, Summoner and Dire Wolf. Wish we could get Cougars and the Warhammer IIC but I do not think the timeline will allow.

I'll take a Mad Dog or a Summoner over a Timber Wolf any day.
Yes the T.W. is a great mech, but it's overrated.

and if you've played the board game during clan era you know that the Timber Wolf actually has some significant heat problems if used incorrectly, and it really takes someone with good knowledge of the game and heat mechanics to alleviate those problems.

That and back in 2000 or so I designed a 55 ton IS mech that can take down a Timber Wolf 3 to 4 out of 5 times, with a 3/4 pilot at it's controls, so i'm a little bias in this regard.

As what could be the iconic mech of the series, I do love the Timber Wolf.
However, after testing out a few mechs in the field, I've grown a soft spot for the Deimos.
Reminds me slightly of a Reaver Titan as well, so that helps.
Edit: Oh, it's not really an initial mech, since it comes in after the Dark Age >.>
In this case, I'll got for the Orion IIC. A decent enough mech, and an upgrade to Kerensky's mech no less.

The Timberwolf aesthetics just hit the nice spot for a lot of people and I think thats why its popular with everyone, more so than any other reason including whether its actually a great mech (which it is).

Other than that, I really like the Vulture design from MW 4.

I love the Summoner actually think it's a bit more flexible than the Timber Wolf. Not that I have anything against the Timber Wolf, it's an awesome omni. The Shadow Cat I have liked but have always found it to be a huge pain in the behind when talking IS vs Clan tech. Fast, maneuverable and can carry a good load-out.
But I have always liked the Gargoyle.

Stormcrow. Gotta love the jet fighter cockpit and hunched-over design, and it's ridiculously versatile.

And of course the Fire Moth, I loved dealing people nasty surprises with the Fire Moth D in the board game (haha, you can't hit me!).

Incubus, Shadow Cat, Blood Asp. If talking TRO3050, then Mist Lynx.

Light - Kit Fox-A (2)
Medium - Stormcrow-B (1)
Heavy - Summoner-Prime (3)
Assault - Deimos-A (4)

And in the order numbered! Don't normally like the later omni mechs (bit of an original invasion mech snob) but not fond of the standard configs for the Assault Class mechs. Would normally pick a 90 tonner as they tend to be the most economical but FASA tended to make them 'weird'.

The Marauder II C Bounty Hunter is the most valuable mech in the game by both the BV1 and BV2 systems.
Bane 3: The King of the LRM mechs with 120 LRMs per salvo and 16 tons of ammo.
Highlander IIC: An improved version of the ever popular Highlander of Highlander Burial fame.
Blood Kite: There must be a mech somewhere under all that gun. The ER Large Lasers in the Head and Center Torso mean it can still dish it out without arms or side torsos.
Firemoth H: Perhaps the best use for Heavy Small Lasers. Run up to the back of someone at ludicrous speed and let them have it with 9 Heavy Small Lasers.
The Nova Cat and the Night Gyr are my favorite slow Heavies.

Jesus, that's such a tough question....

Overall? Probably the Shadowcat, Warhammer IIC, Timber Wolf, and Dire Wolf. Special mention to Summoner.

We'll see how good that clan tech does for you when you walk around the corner of that sky scrapper in your Timber Wolf and stare at the Skull of Death. Yeah, we'll see... :)

Dont worry about that, we like to use cold starts and hidding in rubble. You know, the stuff we used on Luthien to whip you back into orbit.

Definitely the Summoner, Timberwolf (I'm fairly sure that anyone who started their fandom through Mechwarrior 2 is pretty much guaranteed to be infatuated with the Timberwolf. :) ), Kitfox, Gargoyle, and Executioner. Gotta love that Clan-tech!

Unfortunately or fortunately though the game is gonna take place before the Clans.
