PS the original artwork for the commando had 1 eye, and a silly metal beret looking thing on its freaking head. The redesigned face/head is awesome.

Spoiler

That's something to consider...

The commando's head has been interpreted in literally every which way due to the original line-art being fairly vague about which way the head was actually pointing.

so you end up with certain versions thinking that the face of the mech is the smooth windowless part and that the antenna points forwards.

franz vohwinkle's version interpreted the original commando as looking forwards leading to the lasy soldier style head with the "helmet" canted at an angle.

and numerous other versions interpret the mech's head to be sharply turned to the other side in that pic, thus making that black part out to be the visor, leading to the ninja mask versions that are commonly seen.

That has always bugged me when looking at the various representations! Loose's sketches are not that difficult to "read". Of course, I misread the original to have the smooth-dome as the front. I always thought it was a fairly sinister-looking feature, and when the first figurine came out with the "ninja-mask", I was a sad boy.
I'm glad to see that you chose not to tip the soldier hat over. And turning the side-of-the-head circle-thing into a monocle is an nice interpretation. I really want to see what modules make that "eye" work!

An excellent Commando!!

Yup, but that just made it look like the Victor's weaker sibling.

Still prefer the normal look to the faceplate / cockpit viewport over what has been done now.....

Well, I think therein lies the core issue. A LOT of Mechs looked Human-esque. Centurion, Commando... so if it comes down to "What do you think about how well he did converting from the BattleTech designs into MWO's theming", I would say he actually did a phenomenal job.

I guess, when broken down more, my beef here is that the Mech that was chosen (although iconic in its own right) is another human-esque looking Mech, rather than one with a more unique design structure, like the Catapault, Dragon or Hunchback.

I'm just concerned that a large chunk of the Mechs may have the rather simplified human form silhouette to them.

You might be worrying a little bit soon. There are A LOT of mechs to choose from, give it time and I'm sure we'll get some unique looks in here: UrbanMech, Crab, and so forth. If you look at FD's art he doesn't shy away from non-humanesque desisgns.

Finally, a proper death trap for the Steiner Battle Armor Corps.

Keep in mind too that a tonne of the 3049 and earlier 'Mechs are 'humanoid,' as you put it. But we'll have lots to choose from of digitigrade, plantigrade, etc.

That's an awesome art concept of a worthless POC mech. I'm biased, I'll stick with the Jenner for lights.
Well at least its not a charger ;) See good in bad .. ya know.

I figured it was either going to be a Raven or a Commando, both great mechs for what their purpose is, which is scouting. Also, the Commando looks rather sweet now. I believe the next mech will be an Assault mech, I hope its either the Awesome or the Cyclops.

The Timberwolf and Summoner are Clan mechs and won't be shown for some time until the Invasion.
