Why did no one post this yet?
I know the guy on dA that painted that, he's got some serious skills painting anything technical.
I lol'd at that picture too. It's the humorous way it's illustrated, not what's going on, so take no offense, I myself like anthros and all that, and my avatar character is a sort-of draconic reptilian. Though I wouldn't count myself as furry, necessarily, but just open minded.
If I'd be my avatar character in MWO, though, I wouldn't even need a mech. With the powers my character wields, it'd be a piece of cake to nothing short of melting any assault-class mech. But that'd be cheating.

Furries kind of go hand in hand with "real" super heroes..
Its OK, if not normal at a convention, (Who doesn't like dressing up as a Klingon or a Andorian every now and again)
But kind of disturbing if you go out in public dressed like a character..
Case in point
A Furrie Capt America.. (guess it was bound to happen)

Furries? In my battletech? Don't know if want.
Anyway, back to topic...
A battlemech operates under temperatures that are easily going into what's critical for humans.
Now imagine you'd sit in a mech, dressed not in shorts and shirt, but in a thick fur coat...
Haha, well that image is at least... interesting.
And yeah, sitting in a cooking hot mech would be the death of any classic furry character. My draconic reptilian would just have it nice and toasty.

Well, that then again was just random... and kinda creepy. Good example of what any thread can devolve into.

Okay, hold on. I like how generally calm this thread has been but I have to say something here.
Why is this thread a thing?
Liking something, from anthropomorphic characters to my little ponies, should not define who you are. No "fandom" should define who you are, ever... but that's besides the point.
Why does liking anthropomorphic characters matter here? Why feel the need to tell others about it and try to seek out others that like it? This is like going to a Boston Red Socks themed bar during a boston red socks game and trying to find fellow self-identified NRA members to talk about firearms with, there is a time and a place and this is not it. It just makes you look obsessed.
There seems to be this longstanding fallacy that not talking about something wherever you go and being vocal about something you like is being "in the closet" about a certain thing, when that's just not the case. The people on these forums are more or less adults, if they find out you like furries they're probably not going to think less of you for it unless the way you introduce yourself to people is "Hello I am a furry named ____."
By self-identifying as a furry AND by mentioning it as one of the first things that you say about yourself to people, people immediately assume you're one of the absolute worst sorts of furries, the ones that come to mind when you say "Furry" to someone from outside the fandom. The people who act like children and dress up in cartoony outfits who then proceed to make complete fools of themselves while at the same time being creepily sexual about it.
Basically, it all boils down to this: Liking something that certain other people don't like is not an excuse to act like a child about things. Just be rational in general about things, and if it comes up sometime? People won't blink an eye because they'll know you well enough to know that you are not one of the terrible ones. It's not something that if you admit will instantly get you to lose friends. Making a thread like this though? Not a good way to meet people.
Now, if I met people through the FRR house forum, then hung out with them and exchanged recolored pictures of mechs and such with them for a while, then talked about favorite weapons and loadouts, then one of them googled me and found out I paid for my founder's pack by drawing sergals and rather explicit furry images for people? I don't think they'd care too much, because that's not what we're here about, we're here about mechs. Not furries, not ponies, but mechs. While you should never be ashamed of an interest you have, there's always a time and a place.

I know I must sound like a broken record at this point, but I really wish I could drill this into everyone who calls themselves a furry, a brony, or anything else like this:
Liking something that other people don't like is not an excuse to act like a child about it. There is absolutely nothing stopping you from liking something and still acting like a reasonable person. If someone insults you over something you like, they're probably not worth talking to, and you can defend anything you like with a simple "I don't know why I like it, I just do." if you're put on the spot about it, or if you just can't identify why you like something.
If someone goes further, if someone says you like furries or ponies because you're into animals, the wrong way, and you know you don't like animals that way, then that's all there is to it. Someone saying otherwise doesn't make it true, especially when it's your opinion. Just have a bit of confidence in yourself, you know what you like.
Very well said. Point after point was made, and some trolls were probably evaded with that.

Poisonous reptiles sound like fun! They have so many wonderful applications.
Haha, you saying that right there after the argument with Brosef Stalin made it sound like you were thinking of application of said poisonous reptile to face of mentioned person.

If you don't like furries, don't come into this thread. -.-
Nuff said on that point.
Well, what more, then?
Yes well heya, I was frankly surprised to see furry ppl here. Thought mechas and furries didn't mix, but I guess I should've picked up some indications of that going just fine from FA long ago. And hey, I'll say "Greetings" too, just for good measure, and because I didn't do so already.
This thread has had an awful lot of bickering and arguing going on here, hope it continues more calmly.
Hmmh, well, idk, my clock is saying 00:19, and I'm tired, so I might have forgotten a few things I wanted to bring up on the way reading my way through 20 pages of all sorts of assorted posts,.
I guess I'll just wish this thread and everyone present a long life and good luck on future endeavours, and sign off by saying that my most used online name is Antaria_Nova, in case you want to contact me trough either Steam or dA or something.
Furthermore, I can be found as a member of the big clan AOD (= Angels Of Death). Probably will be seeing some of ya, perhaps on the opposing side in battle, perhaps as allies, who knows?
Nova signing off.
