I'm 30 next year, but I've been playing since Mechwarrior 2, which originally hooked me onto the lore and setting. I got into online play in a big way via Mplayer.com (Or Mplague/Mpig as we knew it) playing with a few units in several different leagues for MW2 and Mechcommander. For my money, you'll never find a more welcoming and sound community that the Battletech/Mechwarrior one :)

Now I'm financially able to commit to MWO I'm ready to nail my red white and blue colours proudly to my mast ^^

Sorry so slow to sound off. My hearing is starting to go. Although I'm only 49; I feel older. Especially when those youngsters are flying by in their mechs cutting my back actuators out from under me.

Salutations to my fellow vets.

Just found this thread-
Hello sirs! I'm 44, introduced to tabletop in '88 when I was a freshman in college by a close friend (he piloted a Wolverine- if only I could get him to take a look at MWO). I have over 500 minis, probably enough for 2 regiments of IS and a good sized galaxy of clanners. Haven't played it in years, sad to say. Played the original Crescent Hawk's inception and a little MW2, but missed the others (I knew they were there, just never got to play them). D&D, Gurps, Munchkin, and now MWO.

Good to be on the field with you sirs (and ladies)!

I'm not what might be considered an "old vet" but I have been playing for about the last 10 years or so (soon turning 30). One of my first forays into the Battletech Universe was MW4.

34 here, been playing various BattleTech games (TT and computer games) for 20 years. Still have some of the old lead minis somewhere in my basement. Nice to see that the Old Guard of BattleTech is well represented here.

Well, youngsters, I'm 67, and been playin' big, stompy robots, since forever. Even the Nintendo versions. Holy smoke, I feel older than dirt, compared to most of you.

Interested in seeing how many grizzled old battletech/mechwarrior veterans are out there like me. I will be 46 this year and have been playing/gaming for 33 years now, I remember when battletech first came out when I was a senior in high school (1984), played the first battletech computer game crescent hawks inception and every battletech/mechwarrior game ever since. So........... who's gonna own up to being an old gamer like me :-)

Yours in blood and honor
Kensai the wandering warrior

Well I am a few years older than you since I was playing in college and the military.

I started a topic like this a few days ago in the barracks column. anyway im 51, and have been playng mech for over 20 yrs. played everything from mc2,m3,m4 on the cpu to most of the console version. anyone remember battletech for the genesis don't know how many night I spent trying to beat that game! but what really hooked me into playing mech were the intro's. my favorite was m2 mercs intro.must have watched it a 1000 times. well there's a little of my history. If you were around back then I hope those years were good to you as they were to me. made a lot of friends playing mech and had a blast doing it. hopefully with MWO those good times will continue.

Started playing when I was in middle school in the 80's with Battletech then switched to the PC games when they came out. I am glad that they brought the game back. I miss the old days when you could combine anything in to a mech clan or IS with out varients for the early PC games. I still have all of the model kits half are assembled rest are unopened in the packs. I liked Ghostbears Legacy and the Merc games. I really liked the Mech Commander games too.

Picked up battletech while on TDY in Japan in 1983. If I hadn't joined the AF that would have been the year I graduated from college.

I am 69 and bought the first box I could find when the Battletech game was released. After that our local group just wanted me to run the game so they could fight. Set up scenarios like an RPG. Nobody wanted to 'run' the game and there were no ad hoc games against each other. Just me being a PVE opponent. Have numerous miniatures from those early days. Although I still prefer to play games rather than run them, there was little interest in simple matches. My gaming group wanted RPG immersion.

Still waiting for that RPG immersion here in MWO (CW anyone?).

3rd Argyle Highlanders.
Fang Company, Wolf Clan.
Emerald Rangers, Jade Falcons clan.

These were my main 'PVE' boys against my gaming group.

Definitely. I'm not going to let it slow me down, but yes, I'm certainly waiting for something more than what we have, now.

Yep. I remember playing Battledroids with pop out cardboard cutouts on a cheap hexpaper board with a set battlefield on one side and blank on the other. I had the Crescent Hawks game for my Apple IIe too and I never did figure out that game.

I also remember when Mechwarrior first ed came out in soft cover and it was so convoluted nobody could play it, nor wanted to.
