Here's what I note about a Leopard.. Isn't she a LANCE drop ship.. not a Company? Though.. this also could hint at multiple map landing points for Company sized action rather than one group.

Just saying.. Seems there will be another drop ship for those larger missions.

Which makes me wonder.. Next thread.

Well, there's always the Union and Overlord class...

The Union is the company Dropship i believe, Overlords hold battalions......or is it brigades........three companies (36 Mechs).

Overlords could handle both sides. A bit much for the size of missions projected. They look cool though.

I kind of like the idea of drops happening in three separate Leopards, with Unions as an option. Each lance dropping in a different site might lead to interesting games as you try to get control together once back on dirt.

Maybe need to acquire line of sight between lance command mechs before company command sensors could be used...

It looks like a warthog.

Leopards take off and land vertical if i recall correctly. Has thrusters on the bottom.

I think it looks like a puma. :)

Nice take on the Leopard.

Simply cannot wait to see what the Union is going to look like.

Simply. Cannot. Wait.

Leopard is the sexiest dropship in BTech! I wonder what the startup checklist for that thing looks like. :)

It's actually a fair bit smaller then the An-225, but weighs 6 times more. Probably because of all that armor and the fusion engines.

I think we should get 3-4 options for the "hot drop" (note your merc company will have to buy them first).
Leopard - very fast insertion, inaccurate drops, carries 1 lances
Union - moderate insertion, accurate drops, carries 2 lances
Overlord - very slow insetion, perfectly accurate drops, carries 3 lances
Broadsword - when "clan tech" is released, carries 1 star

I'm just super happy that dropships are getting any dev attention this at all, they could have easily avoided them until later in the games life cycle. From what one of them said they are working on a game mode using the drop ships which will be fantastic, hope maybe we can even get fire support from our dropships in that mode, I'm a big fan of the combined arms aspects of battletech and would like that to be include as much as possible. Hell, I would even volunteer for anti-mech infantry given the option, but I'm know that is very unlikely.

Because that wouldn't be abused at all...

Of course, there would be no problem as long as folks weren't allowed to fly it.

Also a good argument against any player piloted AeroTech's or VTOLs.

Sorry, but having played MWLL where aero/v-tol can be player controlled, I don't think they should ever be allowed to be player controlled in MWO. Now, a commander calling in a strafing run/ bombing run is fine (with the appropriate balancing) but being controlled by a player makes them op more times than not. This is a mech simulation game, not a flight simulator.

The single best implication, is that if this is the size of a Leopard dropship, imagine the size of Union or Overlord class dropships.
