I don;t know how many of you are aware of this game, but it appears it is on its way.

It looks more of FPS in a mech then an actual mechwarrior game, but i do wish MWO would make some cool videos :P

Enjoy

This game looks amazing. But way more twitch based as you said.

Speedier and smaller. Probably not as in-depth either. Not trying to knock it. As I said... looks awesome.

EDIT: Was reading hawken forums and browsed a thread about "Mechwarrior Vets" the ops seems to think that you can only play ONE game. "Ditching MWO for Hawken" lol. Mutually exclusive.

It looks fun but really fast paced, this game is nice and slow and methodical. I prefer slow and methodical since im an old fart of 34 yrs.

Why even bother bringing up this topic again? It always devolves into flame wars. If you want to play Hawken, fine. However I will not be.

(hint: not MWO)

There are already some threads about this, no need to create more.

I will maybe try it out if brother downloads it, but I don't trust companies spending most of their budget on game only on marketing (and with that live action series and advertisment on many high tech sites like Gikai and such, most of teh budget was indeed spent on the advertisments).

They need to cut down the speed and the twitchy stuff a bit (lot) for me. If I want to mash buttons, I play street fighters.

But mine are just suppositions from the videos, so I will try it out.

You got the thread wrong. it should be COD:mechs vs MW:O
i dont think it has much substance, well compared to mechwarrior which has over 70 books, and several games, this "Hawken" as they call it, is just run and gun but its too early for to make a good judgement. I will try it though. i dont wanna break it down without trying it atleast.

I heard from the developer interview on gamespot this was 4 on 4 player, so not really comparible to MW

It's how you guys already said. Hawken is more a FPS than a "simulation" game like MWO. Also, I disagree that you can play all the games and be happy... Internet should flame, there should be conflict! Fan wars! Star wars x Star Trek, Ak47 x M16! lol

Seriously, I wish I had time for more than one game, and I guess that's the situation with many old ppl here, kids, job, wife and games, it's not a very productive mix... :)

The mechs in hawken remind me of like battle armors than mechs.

Question is, Which game will have the bigger "joy stick". They both have controllers in the works.

It should be compared with Transformers Battle for Cybertron, rather then Mechwarrior.

I've been waiting on Hawken for a while now (I think I found out about it BEFORE MWO...'cause I think at the point Hawken was announced, I was still waiting for the MW 'reboot' ...and I'm still hoping for a single-player MW campaign in the future :) )

Hawken looks nice. I have mixed feelings about the designs, but, in general, I think they're 'ok to nice'. I like the really built-up environments. I don't think I like the 'jump-heavy' stuff from what little gameplay I've seen (reminds me a bit of Tribes: Ascend). I think there was also a quick-repair/supply bay thingy, too, from one of the gameplay vids that made it look more like a 'typical shooter' (or at least stuff like CS or Blacklight: Retribution...sorry, only ones that I can recall at the moment w/ something like that).

I'm looking forward to Hawken. I don't much care for comparisons (I do understand that they're inevitable, tho', esp. in regard to mech games). Methinks it's best to judge games on their own merits. :)

re: controllers for either game
I don't even want to think about either (having seen images/videos of both). I'm still trying to save up for a new GPU (hehehe, the $60 founder's thingy is a setback lol)

You can't compare the games the only similar thing they have is that it's based on mechs and the similarities end there. One is more simulation and the other is a fast paced FPS. But that alone you cannot compare games because they are never the same ( apart from CoD, Battlefield and Counter-Srike well not really Battlefield)

I'll play both for sure, but I think MWO is my preferred game. I don't like the idea of "twitchy" mechs, just seems kinda... impossible.
