So gents, we all remember how fun the action packed mechwarrior campaigns were. I'm sure most of you enjoyed Solaris, multiplayer solaris would be amazing (but then again everything multiplayer is).

But back to the topic, do you ever think Mechwarrior online will release a cannon filled story singleplayer (or Co-op) campaign? I'd definitely pay for that. :>?

Or is it too much to ask for? ;/

It would probably come in the form of some DLC. I wouldn't see it being very profitable , so i doubt they'd be interested in doing something like that. Micro transactions>Large DLC.

At the very least I think a lot of people are hoping for a non-versus mode for when they need a break.

Also in any game like this you have players who want to play with their friends but aren't a fan of PvP so they will play a PvE mode almost exclusively. It's in PGI's best interests to throw some sort of co-op mode in at some point.

I heard co-op is going to allow you to copilot 150ton "colossal" mechs with up to two friends, you can fly LAMs, and the Marauder is being saved specifically for this expansion. Not only that, they are bringing back the battletech ccg with online support. This same source informed me that release will likely coincide with the Final Fantasy VII remake on the soon to be released Phantom Vaporware. I've already marked my Mayan calendar in anticipation of Summer 20XX.

single player titles have a very, very different investment model than FTP/micropay games. Single player games need a lot of investment up front, with a long period of no returns and high risk of never getting any returns.

A single player Mechwarrior was attempted but they did not secure funding( mechwarrior 5) but they did secure funding for a FTP title, which has, in this case, a much shorter production period and lower initial investment and higher percentage of gains!

If we, the customers, along with PGI, can prove Mechwarrior can make money, then I'm sure they will be able to find investors for a single player title.

I'd love to see A PVE/co-op/singleplayer campaign in the future. Just sad to see so many with doubt. Well Piranha games, I hope you can prove this sorry lot wrong because I know... Deep down in their hearts, they really want it bad.

There is a comment in the 1st DEV Q&A about a PvE content (i've pasted below)

Will you have PvE elements on MechWarrior Online?

[PAUL] I may or may not pass out depending on Bryan’s answer to this.
[BRYAN] Not at launch. We're looking at ways to incorporate PVE post launch and withing the framwork of the MWO concept.

Sounds more like either bot games, or a moba style match with npc troopers and vehicles. I highly doubt there will be any single player campaign as that will require much more work and not really fit with the whole community warfare things they are doing.

Well like some others have said, a single player campaign is highly unlikely (I would really think just flat out never happening) however, given the popularity of online coop elements prevalent in just about every major multiplayer title (Gears horde mode, Halo firefight/spartan ops, call of duty zombies/spec ops, TF2 man vs machine etc...) it would be foolish of PGI not to implement a similar game mode in the full release of MWO.

Unfortunately, it seems like there have already been quite a few foolish decisions made, add on the fact that this game now has a very iffy future... I wouldn't get your hopes up.

A single player campaign is something I would pay for. They could even save on costs by redoing the MW2 campaigns, that would be earn them my MC.

I don't think there should be an SP campaign. I dunno just seems like it will ruin the essence of being an online game (being that I assume MWO has always been envisioned to be a solely online game).

How would it ruin the game. It can be like most other MMORPG's, take Wow and SWTOR for example. You can solo play, but if you want the good items and rewards you need to group.

So single player limits you to only IS tech for example. But you want clan tech (when it comes in) you need to join up to fight for the big rewards to buy or salvage it. Remember in the BT universe, there is not just the war between Clan and IS, there is also the House wars, and even inside the Houses their is factional fighting. So there is a lot of room for movement to cater for all sorts of play.

I think Icebrand has the idea Redshift. Friends againts ai. CPU vehicles and defensive structures probably.

When I was playing "GUNZ", a f2p game with a cash shop model, it was also PVP focused, yet it had a 'quest mode', and upon finishing lower quests and reaching high enough level higher ones were unlocked.

I donno I think it could be a lot of fun :T

Best way I could think to gently bring someone into the game. But they could make later missions really hard and take a lot of strategy.
