I'm sure the 200+ members of ARMD would appreciate a local server, as well as all the other Aussie units down here.

The ping times are quite acceptable, Alice Springs N.T. and getting around 260.

I honestly expected mush higher.

Freo here

I'm loving this game. ping in Perth seems to have gotten worse recently (iinet). can not wait unitl the nbn is done, our net here is stuck in the dark ages for many unlucky people. a lot of areas around perth max out at 3mb/s and the isp's can not do anything about it.

Local Servers yes please very much yes. Tired of being stuck at 200 ping at the best of times, at worst about 450. Us Oceanic peeps need decent servers to be competitive against those damn teleporting Jenners.

Also ADELAIDE WOOOO!!!!!

Brisbane here.

I've sometimes found it annoying to try and play as direct fire support sometimes. Which has led me to look at alternatives. But I'd really not have to force myself to stick with certain play styles simply due to my ping.

There has also been some instances where my weapon options for brawling effectively can be rather limited (sticking to SSRM and LBX AC for example) just because I have trouble leading my targets effectively at such a short range.
Not saying that I do badly as such, it'd just be nice to be able to do better with an AC 20 for once.

@Pobard. It would be nice to reduce the lag lead. It would be interesting to play at 40-60 ping, I'd probably shoot well behind the target to begin with. :P

Lol agreed. Learning to play again without consciously leading my targets would take some adjustment.

Also, recognising a few names here thanks to less people playing during Aussie peak times.

The NBN isnt gonna help. You might gain 10ms total.

I am not the best FPS player that has walked the earth, but I can hold my own. I find this unplayable with the current ping, to make a crude point, I have played a couple of hours and the best I have done is a couple of assists. It's not too bad at medium to long range but when it gets up close and personal, I get smashed like never before. I love the concept of the game, and to think its only in beta makes me even more optimistic about it, but the lack of an oceanic server writes it off me more or less totally.

When you look at the link to the vote that Dirk put up, you see that 17% of us in Oceania play the game, and about (roughly) 70% live outside the current servers region. So I figure that if this game is to have the longevity and playability of other FPS's out there then they better get the server issue sorted. It has been said that the company is small and does not have the means to set up servers outside the current set up. Everyone started small then expanded, if this game is going to make it then it will have to gain and "keep" the player market. At the moment it is gaining a lot of interest, and so it should, but due to the almost unplayability in some regions they are going to lose more players than they keep. Me for one, will not be spending one more dollar on it until I can get a decent ping, and that's a shame because this is such a great game.

I am not an australian but I vote for australian servers. Just as long as they don't start region locking, I would be sad to not be able to play with my commonwealth brethren.
