We'd need a great director that would love the idea of Mechwarrior and play the games as well as get the original writers used during the writing. Meaning no Uwe Boll!

Doesn't current movie synopsis follow the general layout of start in the middle-if the fans like it then sequel-if that goes well then prequel?

I would really enjoy a movie of the Battle Of Tukkayid sequeled by Operation Bulldog, with an extended sequel of the FedCom Civil War and a prequel of the clan invasion.

Really though since this franchise has about the same amount of content as Star Wars they really should make 9 movies. (Wet dream)

It had a story and a history well before the first mechwarrior 2 game came out. it does not matter how many transformer movies come out. great example is PACIFIC RIM. what is that about? BIG walking machines with people piloting them. If they do not do a mechwarrior/battletech movie. they will pull something else out of there anatomy or make up some script to a mech movie. If PACIFIC RIM does well at the box office. they will just keep making them anyway.

Pacific Rim is far more likely to kill a MechWarrior movie than help one, unfortunately. Suits won't risk the criticism of internet smartasses and superficial joes going, "Big stompy robots? Didn't Pacific Rim already do that?" It's the reason Pixar cancelled their "Newt" film; Blu Sky Studios beat them to the punch with "Rio".

In my opinion, the franchise have a great potential for film adaptation. It can be considered overly intellectual and hard sci-fi by today's standards of appealing to customers' sensory cortex only, but only just a little. So Battletech movie can be enjoyable for both lowest common denominator PG-13 audience and more mature viewers.

The only way a movie could ever possibly hope of being done is because of the fact i would be based on a book or a universe and not a game franchise.

... but Warhammer 40k also has that and I have yet to see a decent official movie.

Of course. You can't just base the BT movie on big stompy robots only. There are bigger and stompier around, but BT universe has more to offer. And given the current prevalence of low-grade screenplays, vast quantity of available BT novels and possible canonicity issues that may arise around new plot, book adaptation is definitely a better way to begin with.

Just get Til Schweiger to play a clanner. He has the complete emotional spectrum to perfectly play one of them.

Well if Pacific Rim does well, it will bolster the chance of a Mechwarrior like movie. You need a comic book or other media source for Hollywood to notice and of course they love to copy each other so if Pacific Rim makes a ton of money, all the studios will be looking to get in on that action.

Meh, do Decision at Thunder Rift.

That would work.

Just change the names around.

Tobey Maguire is trying to float a Macross movie also.

I think HBO could pull this off. Serial approach much like "Game of Thrones". I mean come on, there would be just as much drama with all these houses involved. Heck, let Charles Dance grow a beard and cast him as Jaime Wolf.

It would need heck of a screenplan and most of all promotion. Just like they did with "GoT". Rightly done it would blast the Transformers franchise into oblivion. And yeah, Pacific Rim will be the closest to kin yet but as already said it might as well just blow. Though I like del Toro. It could actually be good. Fingers crossed.

Warrior saga would make for a killer movie. Especially if it had the budget to pull good actors and effects. (ie Star Trek style)
