Well, i (and mayby one or two others ;-) ) would pay for some private commerce putted into this game.
For example the url of my website cross the whole mech chassis, the pic of my girlfriend on the CT or in much bigger dimensions the name, e-mail and other contact informations about my firm / buisness / company.

As you can see i´m talking about product placement as it has already been done in a couple of other games, not to mention movies.
This might be discutable or even disturbing to many of us players but...this game is free...the Devs hawe spend years of work, development, time to bring it to us so...why not a "co_ke" or "ni/ke" on a few buildings in an urban map to finance MWO in the future.
Also, such names hawe the abiliti to bring a little bit more casch than many players paying for a custom decal.

By the way...you don´t like ham-burgerk-king? Spend an alpha by passing the wall it´s on and you don´t need to see it anymore. :P

Edit: Just saw i´m not the only one with this.

Add in the coupon idea and you have revenue from 1 sponsors and 2 from 'pay per click' style adds (so I see a Darden Co. building for Olive Loberster Steak House. I pause in game, because I am a noob and stupid, target the building, open a window and have a coupon for dinner emailed to me, then I blow it up! Mwahahahaha! but because I was being noobish, I get ganked by the Lyrian 'Scout's' that were 'sneaking up' on me)
Tah-Dah! cost differed

I'm on board for the fuzzy dice. They hold special meaning to me. Goes way back to the late 60s. Just have to say this in ending:

Fuzzy dice, bongos in the back
My mech of doom is ready to attack.
(sorry had to do the Frank Zappa Mother's of Invention ripoff)

Posting this here rather than a new thread - encouraging the devs to review the tribes ascend model which I believe would be good for mechwarrior, hopefully they can draw useful ideas from it.

Playing Tribes:Ascend, I have to say that if mechwarrior online goes with a similar model they could make pretty good cash. The skins make tribes tons of money, its amazing how many people pay for skins since they cant be got with XP.

I was in the tribes closed and open beta, and have been impressed with the model. As a VIP spending 30 bucks, I can play regularily for 3 months until I unlock everything, a guy spending 60 bucks can do it with 174 hours of playtime.

The model works because it keeps you playing to aquire new gear, while at the same time letting you drop 60-100 bucks to get everything now - more than reasonable if you consider the average game now is from 30-100 bucks.

If I consider I will play mechwarrior for probably the next 4-6 years (assuming the game is good once completed obviously) I would easily be willing to spend at least 100 bucks for that timespan, and probably from 30-60 bucks a year for the full 4-6 years I expect to get from the game, so new mechs, etc I might buy them with XP or with gold if I really want it now.

You could do wepons like paying for some CLAN tech., but other then that it would probaly be decals on mechs or on your avatar.
Though I wouldn't mind paying extra money to play an aero-space mode.

A third person camera is what we need during combat so I can enjoy the awesome parts I bought. I cant tell you how frustrating the idea of a first person only view is in a game where you customize your Mech so much. Let us enjoy the parts we spend money on in combat, and not just in a menu. It loses alot of meaning building an awesome mech if you cant even see it in action...

Which then provides us with the hill camping ala a MW4. Please don't suggest this, admire your beast in replays, or, in the mechlab.

I would pay for upgrades as in more mechs types or new maps. But charging for paint jobs and such should not be the case. It should cost game dollars that you earn in the game. Games trhat make you pay real money for every little thing end up sucking in the end because people just buy everything. The game should remain skill based not tech based. I can see buying game add ons but not stuff for your mech. Though I kinda like the idea of the dance of victory. But I would not pay for it.

But above all else I would pay for the game if you would put it on the shelf.

Just thought of this. But I would also pay for bill board space to recruit clan members. Wouldnt it be cool to see the factions and clans you fight with or against on the bill boards on the maps?

Id pay for decals
Id pay for paint schemes/colors
Id pay for "nose art" (think pin up girls on old AF bombers, basically decals but more intricate)
Id pay for weapon looks (so a PPC, looks like a PPC, looks like a PPC, but id pay for one that looks different, but its still a PPC)
Id pay for weapon effects (you know id be neat if my PPC blast was bright green, just an example)
Id pay for cockpit items (say hang a pin up girl in there)
Id pay to make the mech look different. I mean you would look at a atlas and would know without a doubt its an atlas, but im sure there are small cosmetic things you can change ( for example maybe slightly different forearms or head designs)
Id pay to have my mech or pilots name stenciled on the mech
Id pay to have a serial number i wanted stenciled on the mech (in the MWO trailer the SN for the atlas was AF 77-205, at least that would the SN on an AF bird)
Id pay to be able to put mottos on the mech (need approval and thus would cost more) or maybe stock ones "Mercy is for the Weak" "Red is Faster" (please do red is faster, i want to play a light scout)
Id pay to have different kill markings (not necessarily accurate, but maybe say one decal is ten atlas silhouettes with red x's)
Id pay to be able to have slightly different engine/weapon noises
Id pay to have the ability to shout a stock phrase from a speaker in the mech "Death and Glory!" that other mechs can hear

What about avatar customisation. Not mech, but pilot appearance?

I too was wondering whether you would get to create your Pilot as i'm sure I read/watched somewhere that said there is part of the game that is "outside of your mech"

Cockpit customisation sounds like a great idea, would love to be able to make myself feel at home in my cockpit, pictures of ma lady waiting for me back on the farm... or something... :P

It has already been mentioned but SINGLE PLAYER campaign.. but it may help to do it in installments a large initial release several missions. then episodic content maybe a mission or 2 when new maps or signifigent events take place in the universe. the episodic content may only be a few dollars for 2 or 3 missions, the large initial release may be 10 or 15 for a short campaign to introduce people to the factions and state of the galaxy.
