Lol this calls for the obligatory fuzzy dice, and cross hanging from the rear view mirror.

Decals and custom cockpits would be cool, but I probably wouldn't pay for it. I mean like I'd rather pay for better top notch armor or weapons, but the unnecessary things would not really be worth it

CBA to read 43 pages, but this is what I whould spend cash on
1. Mech slots
2. Convert $ into C-Bills (if the ratio is right)
3. Premium account
4. Special mech's / weaponry
5. Personalized Looks on mech's (color / camo / shark teeth on cockpit)
6. Boosting consumables for like clan wars and stuff like that or the average player that wants to perform better in normal matches
7. Gifting premium / mech's to friends

There is much that I would pay for but if one year of MWO would cost considerably more than one years subscription of an AAA MMO then I think that it would hurt MWO in the long run.

LOTS of things.

1- Mech I customized. Even if it's a canon Mech with hardpoints, customized the way I want goes a long way.

2- Support Battle Armor or Vehicles

"2. Convert $ into C-Bills (if the ratio is right)
3. Premium account
4. Special mech's / weaponry
5. Personalized Looks on mech's (color / camo / shark teeth on cockpit)

I'm not sure how much I will focus on Mech slots. Basically I don't want to pay too much for non-less "extra feeling" things. I'd also like it for there to be a way to free grind their way to better playing as well, and those who do so accorded the same respect. As for myself, I will not have enough time for that, and enjoy the commercial options being available.

Not sure what else. I mean people in general will pay for a lot. Especially fans with respect to objects of fandom.

Someone has probably already mentioned this, but i think that custom laser colors would be a great idea. I'd love to run around melting mechs with rainbows.
As everyone has mentioned: custom paint jobs, decals etc.
Taunting effects of some describtion: I was thinking music or sound effects that you play from your mech for everyone in the vicinity to hear when you score a kill. This is not something you should be able to spam, it should just play when you score a kill. Like at some sporting events, when they score a goal they play a little snip of a song. Something like that, where maybe you could upload your own. These would of course have to be approved but, if it cost a little more i still think i would buy it to be able to rick roll people with every kill. ;)

Merchendice - Thinks like:
  • Minatures exatcly replicating the asthetic look of a 'mech saved in your 'mechlab.
  • T-shirts.
  • a physical install CD complete with Box, instructions, and development artwork / videos / notes
  • Posters. (you guys have already done the work eg http://static.mwomer...B03A088ED84.jpg )
These are things I would pay for. Admitadly not a huge amount of profit from things like this I know and it needs a whole lot of new marketing and things like the mini's need to be checked for existing copywright.. but still cool ltlle things that I think alot of fand would pay for :D

Second idea - I know this probobly will not happen but I think it would be awesome so I will just say it: I would like to be able to play this LAN. I am a social gamer. MWO appeals to me on so many levels, but there are times when I want o get together with my mates (We have a social group we call Friday Night Lan 'FNL') an play games. I realsie teh ONLINE part of MWO, but still I WOULD PAY for teh ability to have a LAN capabale version even if it was a Galditor/Areana style watered down version just to team up with freinds or FFA and duke it out (I am sure you guys have noticed how fun teh atmosphere is in your 'friends and family Beta' http://mwomercs.com/...deo/8l6JB4ugUsI )

Third idea - Mostly what has already been stated. things like:
  • The Monlthy SIgn up for XP/C-Bill bonus (A feature I personally will not buy but think is a great idea to help people play and get up there a litlle faster but not giving any unfare advantage to people with more money to spend. Hmm ok so maybe I might buy it once or twice if i go on holidays or get sick so i can 'catch up' with any freinds who bought an extra mech during my down time).
  • Custom decals
  • Hula Girl(s)
  • Registration of non-cannon Merc-Corps
  • Vantity asthetic customisations
That is my opinion. This is a game I would have bought off the shelf if was a retail title so I am already sold. However I think the way you guys are going with this has a lot of potential to appeal to a wider veriety of gamers so best of luck and I hope you all get payed for the hard work :(

The second idea is one I support completely.

After playing MMO's for over a decade and F2P model games over the past couple of years its become clear that the best way for a game to succeed at keeping paying subscribers is for the game to have wide appeal and to play well on the majority of systems out there. "Vanity" items, i.e. items that are paid for but have nothing beyond aesthetic appeal should be considered bonus income and not something that should be relied upon to keep the game going. Several MMO's fell into the trap of offering more and more frivolous vanity items in their stores while neglecting to add or change content over the years to keep up with competition.

I'd pay for additional MechLab customization options, particularly with hardpoint allocations or additional variants. If it's not something stupid like extra critical slots, bonus tonnage or better weapons/armor, does it really matter if you get hit by an unexpected weapon for a chassis? Not really. So that Jenner stripped itself down to fit an AC20 or a Gauss rifle. Big deal. It got rid of engines and armor to do it.

I'd also pay for access to additional premium mech chassis. Let's face it, BT fans have their favorites. Mechs are all about vital stats like tonnage available, speed and armor. As long as everyone has basis access to sufficiently customizable mechs in all weight classes, it's still fair game.

Since I presume merc outfits and other 'guild' type player structures would be supported, I'd also think people would pay for upgrades related to that. Maybe some shared mech bays, things like that.

Paint customizations would be more awesome than an Awesome.

I don't want to see exclusive premium only maps, because that would divide the user base. I'd also hate to see introduction of Clan or LosTech that was exclusive to paying for it. Goes from advantage of flexibility to advantage in hard numbers. That said...

The number of pay to win whines in this thread are ridiculous. It's the sort of thing that people who have never played a BT game would say. Pay to win in BT is facing a 35 ton mech that, amazingly, has 4 C/ERPPCs, JJs, 120kph run, ECM and enough heat sinks to continuous fire. Remember, folks. An 85t mech of one type is comparable to an 85t you have to pay for. I've played hundreds of competitive multiplayer matches on Mechwarrior 2 and 3, and can honestly tell you that if a player trashes you because they have chassis X and if they were in chassis Y you'd beat them, you're kind of full of it.

I'd pay $ for chasis alterations.

say my mech has a LRM 10 in the right torso and I >really< want to mount an AC20 there. this'll probably be impossible due to hardpoint limitations, but I'd pay $ to get the AC20 put in and the chasis of my mech changed so that the LRM 10 part of the chasis 'skin' was altered to display that AC20.

If you think about it, this probably would take a bit of work to make it so all the weapon systems on all the mechs could be 're-skinned' to display different weapon types, but after that, it would be a cash cow since the work was done and it was a simple thing to make the change. we all know how much people like to customize mechs, plus, if your mech could look visibly different on the battlefield, that would be pretty enticing.

Customization of my BattleMech is very valuable to me. I'd also be willing to pay for voice talent, if it gave me the ability to adjust the computer voice providing system warnings or the ability to broadcast taunts and commands in game.

Duncan Fisher voice over for your mech. Yes please.

After watching the mech lab video, if free even better but options to upgrade designs for the mech lab backgrounds,

House Banner/Colors
Workers moving around
Color Schemes
Posters / Wall hangings. Would like to make the place feel all warm and cozy or Dark and dreary as one would see fit.

I would pay for:

- anti-cheat device
- kicking bots out of the game
- banning spammers and flamers
