I would pay for mech customization. Camo, color .... Additions that are cool looking: Flood lights (which can be switched on and off), Spikes on the shoulder, or a rotating radar device (only optical addition).
Many people mention things for the cockpit, but I think most people want things other players can see during the game. So anything that alters my mech, my base, my dropship or my NPC support vehicles/troops appearance would be cool.
I think many power ups which have to be rebought after use or after a set amount of time with C-Bills should be buyable with $ permanently. Special ammunition for example or support vehicles, airstrike call ins, dropships which defend your spawn point...

I personally pay for non balance breaking stuff, if balance depends on payments I'd quit the game in short time.

I paid for Founder because I like the game and I want early access directly after my holidays.
If people are more or less forced to pay to play the game in good "style" I'd be one of the first paying customers to leave it.

I want non paying people to be equal to payers.

A lot of great ideas here. I know one FPS that allows you to make your own emblem by mixing upto two images, but if a more detailed system were available that gave more options and allowed a player to work up a creation prior to paying for it that would be totally awesome. The nice feature of the one program was that once a design had been purchased no one else could use it. Perhaps the skins that can be designed for mechs could work something like the "Need for Speed" games paint schemes and decals did. Now that would be sweet.

in my attempt to think outside of the box how about a 'get out of jail free card'

if i recall correctly all damages will cost in-game money (c-bills) to repair as would (I'm assuming) replenishing spent ammo. So how about the ability to buy (with real money) a coupon of sorts, that has a limited number of uses that would upon use, cover the cost of repairs and resupply of a single mission. Ideally, this would ideally instantly restore your mech to the same condition it was before the match began.

Well in World of Tanks I spent like this.

Always a Premium Account (I won't do games without one on, I scrape for every XP and credit I can)

The initial training of my crew so I can have em begin right away at %100. The slight drop afterwards when training them to a new tank using silver was acceptable and easy to get back %100 and continue training special secondary skills.

This time around I'm buying Premium Mechs. In WoT I never bothered and still got a garage full of top end hardware but I seen how much easier it was for those with credit boosting tanks while I strugged to grind dozens of extra battles because of short funds.

Each vehicle I settle on (and not all highest tier possible but the best ones I feel of each tier) I like to spend the bucks to give it a paint job.

Things like the gold ammo and gold expendable equipment only really gets purchased during important PvP event things like Clan Wars so don't expect players just doing simple grinding on the ladder to bother with those.

Little quirks too I pay for. There are expensive equipment to attach to the tanks that do nice buffs. The equipment didn't cost money but simple in-game credits from battles but they are expensive and when equipped they are permanantly equipped to the tank.....unless you pay a little bit of gold to remove it....strategies like that help and proves to be a good working model.

It certainly is a great choice to choose this virtual currency model over the subscription model. I hope many others realize the better profit and better player satisfaction that comes from it. It allows each individual to customly pay what they desire to gain their entertainment as opposed to a subscription that imposes a static number on what it cost for entertainment. What that does is chases away the casual player that only wants to pay a lesser amount and doesn't do a "full time" useage of a 30 day subscription, it also clips your profits from players like myself who don't mind spending over 100 a month on various little things in-game to gain value of entertainment. If the subscription and profit numbers are based on say 14.99 a month. Not only might you lose many many players who only wish to pay 7.99 for entertainment a month but certainly will lose the larger percentage of a player willing to fork in 99.99 a month.

-$10.00 to purchase-Deleted Battlemechs. Maybe you didn't want to put in the Hatchetman because melee combat isn't included. If infantry aren't modeled, maybe that Firestarter is without a purpose. Maybe you just thought a 'Mech was too obsolete to include. But someone will want to pilot them, even if their disadvantages handicap them. If I want a dang Mackie, I'll pay to drive the museum piece around.

This. Being able to pilot 'Mechs of old... Absolutely fantastic idea.

Commander waypointing for lance coordination.

Mech rental. Try an Atlas out for $1/hr or /day to see if I want to grind out 9M c-bills to buy one.

Fireworks Missle Launcher

Pony target/shooting range. % of proceeds goes to charity.

Full blown MechHunter TM minigame where you hunt Alien "BIG Game" from your Mech.

Lighter ammo, 5% more rounds per ton but same dammage.

ablative armor paint. 3% laser damage reduction for that match, or 5-10% reduction only on first hit of any given surface.

A few things I would be willing to pay for:

User-made mech textures. A utility such as a 'mech painter' would be necessary, which would allow the user to make their own custom paintjob. These would probably need to be mech-specific. Why, you ask? An Atlas' arm most likely uses a different texture file than a Jenner's arm. In fact, from what I have seen, editing the weapon configuration in the mechlab alters the configuration of the mech, so there is a distinct possibility that changes in the mechlab would render a custom skin unusable, even on the same mech. Obviously, these would have to be sent off for approval before being implemented into the game.

The ability to make a dedicated glowmap to go along with this would be awesome.

Also, from a game monetization standpoint, this is something people could conceivably pay for repeatedly. No player needs more than one logo, but players are going to want multiple mech retextures.

Another good one would be different styles of weapon hardpoints. With three lasers on one arm, perhaps have an option for them mounted in a triangle-configuration, or horizontally, or vertically. The sky is the limit here, as there are almost limitless permutations for this. Does the user prefer long-barrel lasers, or short ones? Or lens holes in a box? Maybe the player wants to ditch the forearm-mounted cannons on the Atlas in favor of a physical weapon held in the mech's hand. How about a Thor with a square missile rack? I would most certainly spend a few dollars to customize my mechs and make them look unique.

Another idea: Various permutations of weapon hardpoint configurations. Maybe an Atlas with missile racks on the shoulders instead of the torso, or a giant gun for one arm, instead of the waist-mounted main gun. Keep the number of permutations high, and allow us to view and modify them before purchasing (so we can determine which Atlas looks the coolest to us). Or maybe something awesome, such as a Hollander with a mech-size sniper rifle in both hands!

Finally, I'd like to see variable mech loadout options. I remember this was a problem in Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries. I loaded out an absolute monster of a Kodiak (100 ton clan mech) with loads of SRM's and four Ultra AC 5's. But, I was very disappointed that the Atlas (a mech of identical tonnage) could not be loaded out with the same weapons, because it lacked the missile slots. In this instance, I would have really, really liked an Atlas with its hardpoint configuration copied from the Kodiak.

I would pay money to drive a mech that I like the look and style of, but that has stats and configuration identical to a mech of similar tonnage. I would be very skeptical of allowing this sort of thing between mechs of different tonnages. While plus or minus 5 tons may be okay, plus or minus ten (or more) would allow mechs with a smaller target profile to have the same firepower as a heavier, bulkier, easier-to-hit chassis.

But perhaps most importantly: I want to be able to configure my HUD. And I want to do more than just change the colors. I want to be able to move things around, resize readouts, and change the readout styles. While resize and HUD element movement should be free, I don't mind paying for readout style changes.

Add ons, jammer equipment and holo projector. Basically make yourself appear 30 feet away from actual location or such an idea. Enemy alpha strikes your projection giving you time to target them before the find your actual location. Great when you are not the lucky one that saw or detected the target first and offers a counter strike or escape chance.

i would pay for a lottery. spend real money to buy lottery credits, you enter the lottery to win a mech, or equipment. how about solaris matches? pay real money to enter a tournament, winner gets a prize.

I'd love to have a 3rd person mode accessible by a little camera drone that flies behind and above your mech, though considering MWO is based on LL, this isn't likely.

Well, I haven't had the time to read all of the posts listed, but like the original stated, "Bitey would like to have tons of trash in his mech"... Although that would be cool, I would really like to have a BobbleHead in my mech.

So let's say your "driving" an Atlas, if you've "purchased" the option either for all of your mechs, or per mech, you can have a Bobble Head of the Mech your "driving" in your cockpit.

Depending on your movement or when you get hit by cannon fire (missles etc), the head would "bobble" around.

I believe I would pay for that, but with a Purchased Option to turn it on or off.

So to add to the post, Decals, Trash, Bobble Heads, I find could be a purchased item, but once purchased, either per mech or for your entire account, you can then have a "Turn On/Off" option in the Option Screen.

Those are my two cents for this post.

My suggestion on cash shop items: Clan tech.

I find this suggestion surprising considering who you are (ie. a volunteer community manager) because what you are suggesting amounts to Pay2Win and this very contrary to what the developers have been pushing for from the beginning.

Co-op packs, sell them as "merc contracts".

Playing online will be great I'm sure. However, several folks will run against the inevitable "super clans", continually get their butts waxed and quit playing. It could be much fun and profitable for MWO to utilize co-op (lance based) missions.

After reading through 45 pages, I almost forgot what my suggestion was ;)

I believe guilds/groups/units (whatever you want to call them) would love to purchase a "training grounds" where they could set up their own battles for training purposes - maybe pick a map and manually join individuals into the teams, maybe through invites or such.

Group in game channels would be handy as well.

Also, a group mech bay would be handy to share materials and maybe even mechs.
