We will not have pinpoint accuracy but rather, as has been hinted and guessed at in other posts, a weapon convergence system. The explanation of the system just wasn't in the scope of this blog post.

But here's the brief rundown for you guys: Basically, your targeting systems are always trying to adjust the angle of your weapons so that they converge or focus at a distance of whatever your aiming reticles are pointing at. So, if you fire at a target very far away, your lasers (or whatever else) may fire nearly parallel to each other; firing at a target up close will angle the shots inwards. However, the adjustment of these angles is not instant.

For instance, if you were facing a building, while taking cover right up against it, your convergence would adjust to hit just a short distance in front of you (the distance to the building). When you step out from around that building and fire on an enemy in the distance, your convergence point would automatically begin to adjust, but not instantly. If you shoot too soon, your first shots may converge and cross a short distance in front of you and completely miss the enemy as they pass on either side of him. Or perhaps you were aiming for the center torso and hit his arms instead, as your aim adjusts towards his center.

Is there a HUD/interface indicator for this (current convergence range or Time-To-Converge) or a manual override to set convergence to a set range :P ?

Now I would actually buy a drink that has that name on it, then build another life size Urbie, out of those, then send it as a Christmas present to Paul. :P

I would assume not. If you're going to be realistic, flamethrowers do require fuel. And in fact, this may well be a balancing decision on the part of the team, which may in turn mean that Flamers will be more powerful in this game than in previous iterations.

But that's all speculation on my part.

Uh that would not be correct on par with the canon, as the Flamer is basically a Jumpjet that isn't firing as strong, and has the same principle. It uses superheated gas from the reactor, and directs it in a weaponized form. :D

So interesting...

Sounds very much like HOMAS (hands on mouse and stick) might be the optimum control setup for this.

Bind the arms to the mouse
Bind the torso twist to pedals
Bind the throttle and turn to a left hand stick. Only thing you need is a stick you can remove the center spring on the vertical axis and add some friction.

Just a quick question. Totally unrelated.

How do you get a credit card unstuck from being shoved into a DVD drive? I have....uhhh...have a friend who wanted to give a game company money... lets call them GPI... how would he go about doing that? And if you cannot, can he still use it to give GPI money?

But back on topic, looks awesome!!!!!

Exactly how I thought it would be after hearing the arm reticule was tied into a free-look hotkey. MWLL movement style overall. I'll have to start playing it more often.

Love the HUD guys :P Clear, concise, easily readable important tactical info right where ya need it. Now if 1-2 of the secondary/tertiary monitors can be customized to show info we want it will be perfect for me. Though one thing, please let us change the overall color of the HUD.

Let's put that nit back by looking at the full sentence: "Coming out of this triangle are an arrow, to represent the direction the ’Mech’s feet are facing, and a large triangular shaded area representing the direction the torso is facing as well as the field of view from the cockpit."

And a slightly condensed version of the sentence: "Coming out of this triangle are an arrow [...] and a large triangular shaded area representing the direction the torso is facing as well as the field of view from the cockpit."

So, with that out of the way, does that mean that there's nothing left but WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO? :P

D'oh! Right, are = list for two things basically. Ha, god I feel dumb for that one.

And yes *slow nod* yes it does... :D

OMG they really used control scheme I suggested O_O
hahahahahah Im already got used to that scheme ,Time to own people that had no idea *just kidding*
Lets see how Joystick users will handle themselves.

I thank the developers for considering it as a valid choice. Its easy to use just as I said and will make more people able to play it without extra gear.

Actually, chemical flamers (called vehicle flamers) are in the boardgame also, and there are some mechs with them fitted in later TROs, so it is NOT technically incorect.

The Fusion based flamer introduced originally (I think in Citytech) is a really weakly thought out weapon, is next to useless in TT except against infantry, and was just not very popular. I would welcome chemical flamers.

As long as the "ammo" doesn't require additional tonnage, thus making mechs with flamers have to sacrifice something else they they are supposed to have.
