I would prefer centering legs to torso insted of centering torso to legs.
But still it's better than nothing.

It is essentially fully customizable. And no you'll never see 'Press Start' on any screen.

I hope that's not taken too much to the extreme since I've lost count of the number of games that tout such features but wind up proving to be an absolute nightmare trying to fit it into a particular peripheral. I'd love to just plug in my gamepad/joystick, pick a profile, and away I go instead of spending hours trying to fit in the essential controls into a peripheral with a limited number of inputs. An example of this would be something like the following:

- 10 button controller - PS3
- 10 button controller - Xbox 360
- HOTAS
- keyboard/mouse
- custom

This way you could use the Xinput code in order to squirt out the gamepad configurations, use the HOTAS to configure flight systems like the X-52, keyboard/mouse is pretty self-explaining, and custom would be for DirectInput-supported devices and for everyone else who loves to tweak their devices and/or have something similar to the Nostromo.

As a side-note I never really quite understood why everyone has such an aversion to the "Press Start" you see on some games. So what if it's mainly associated with consoles? It gives the user a visual indication that a gamepad has been detected and inputs will be accepted from it. It's not like "OMG!!! It's the Apocolypse!!! Another console to PC port??!!!! RAWR!!!!!!" that some seem to make it out to be. :D

Myself, I'm just happy that one of my top 10 games for this year will actually support gamepads and/or other control devices for those of us with injuries that prevent the constant use of a keyboard and mouse. :P

The "Press Start" or "Press Enter" or "Press ANY Key" screens... referred to as title screens were in place for branding/advertising purposes for when games were put on display and had a running intro loop. For example:

Boot Sequence > Legal Screens > Technology Bumpers > Developer Bumpers> Intro Video > Title Screen > Technology Bumpers... repeat.

The loop would hold on the Title Screen for 30 seconds and then kick off the loop again. You've all seen stores that had TV's in their display windows or kiosks and a game would be playing and you'd be like "Woah.. what game is that?". The Title Screen would appear and hold and you would then be like "Woah.. neat... I want that game or I'll go home and look it up".

Yes it is somewhat console specific but PC games use it at tradeshows and such as well.

When are we gonna see some hot mech on mech action in various positions, get those cannons to penetrate the rear armor, and shake that chassis.

An apt case in point.

Looking forwards to the next installment of Devblog 5, even delayed.

Will there be an option to play using the classic mechwarrior control scheme without having to go and change every hotkey? Back in mechwarrior 2 W used to toggle image enhancement for clan mechs and S was for shutting down the mech. The numbers were presets for the speed of your mech. From the description is sounds like the game has become partly a no brainer console/fps setup. I personally enjoyed the challenge of having to learn a large amount of controls to pilot my mech. It seperated the good mechwarriors from the bad. I'm just worried one of my favorite games of all time will be stupified like what microsoft did in the mech assault games.

Wait a minute... that's a pretty damn sturdy tree. That may need to be looked in to and adjusted.

Also.. if they fall from too high up? So no damage on a normal fall, from, say, taking too much damage? The act of falling itself doesn't deal damage correct?

I got a buddy that did a buncha volunteer firefighting and emt stuff. He has regalled me before on the dangers of a tree to a moving vehicle. Even a small tree is far more sturdy then you'd believe. Anything but a sapling will wreck your car.

Telephone poles are a horse of another color and are far more breakable.

I'm curious if there is going to be any "difficult terrian" issues. I'm learning Battletech now and moving too quickly on some surfaces can make you skid. Some rough terrian's can cause a fall.

Actually I'd find it interesting if when you enter a "dangerous" terrian too quickly you have to "make a pilot test". In this case you must hit X ASAP. From there a couple quick prompts of A and D in the right order to mantain your level. Or you fall on your side and take damage. Say going full throttle into rubble or ice.

Making a player have to respond to dangerous terrian is always hazadorous to player enjoyment...but I think MWO could do it well. Have the Mech put an overlay on terrian deemed dangerous and make the "stay standing" check not too difficult once you get used to it. Puts the respect for ice it deserves when your piloting a top loaded two legged mech trying to run at full speed.

Hey all,

Just grabbed this from IGN: (http://pc.ign.com/ar..._source=twitter)
.
Water will also cool your mech's heat level if you strategically place your heatsinks on your legs, and can make the difference if you're fighting on a world with many shallow bodies of water.

.
Pirahna Games emphasizes that no one will be able to pay their way into power, and their microtransaction system will generally focus on giving players with less time and a bit more money additional gameplay options. Either way, whether you want to pay or not, this is one mech game everyone should try when it's available.

.
Not sure if this is reliable info or not.

I can't remember too well if it was MechWarrior 3050 or MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat that ran on my Intel 486 but I remember there was rear view camera from the cockpit. Is this going to have that feature?

The targeting discussion sounds *really* sexy. So much better than most games where you can know everything about every enemy instantly...

awesome

I thought I heard early on that Joysticks will be supported. In the write up it doesn't mention the option. I wonder if they will still be supported. If not, it looks like we will have amazing control through the keyboard and mouse combo. This is really looking good.

Bring on the gameplay video!

Maybe this has been addressed in the past, but in older MW games, you could use a joystick's thumb pad to swivel a 'Mech's arms left and right to do side shots. I'm not even sure how that worked on a mouse, but I'm also presuming that's a feature the team is well aware of and implemented, correct?
