Warhammer fits my play-style... keep 'em at range, slowly pepper away with alternating PPCs, then alpha at Medium once they close and use terrain to keep up the harrassment... of course, I would always try to use lance command to keep things interesting and safe. Never had much luck with the Vic'.

On tabletop I'd take both if given the chance/had the spare BV/tonnage. But on maps with tight terrain and few uncluttered fire lanes, I'd personally pick the Victor. On more open maps, I'd still stick with the Vic but I'd probably wind up being more area denial than hard-strike, and I'd rely on faster lancemates to be the hammer to the Victor's anvil. An anvil that also happens to have jumpjets.

Generally, the Warhammer's a better all-around choice but the Vic's a solid Assault and a good holepuncher to support a balanced lance. After all, we can't all be semi-fragile snipers. Someone's gotta bring the heavy metal.

Prefer the Warhammer in this fight, only as I have never had much luck with a Victor...

Seeing that the victor of 3050 had a Gauss rifle and no heat issues, not to mention 2.5 tons of extra armor and a 120M jump capability, I think (and statistically running numbers) the thin skinned (armor) Warhammer wins in an open terrain or water terrain type battle (in a low heat region) . Even chain gunning your PPC's will over heat you in 2 full attacks.

I love the look of the WH, but the Victor has almost exclusive advantage.

Mobility wins in any battle of equal or near equal odds. Add the extra armor and its warhammer salvage.

You drop out the MG's on the WH and make the 6 a streak 6 and add the rest to armor. You can even drop out the sm lasers if you want another ton or armor as you rarely use them. I'd take on a Victor any day. If I have any range I'd have the Victor half dead by the time he brought the AC 20 to bear, though in the city the Victor would rule. I have driven both and the WH is more versatile.

I hope we get both,

-N

I'd cast my lot for the Victor. As a 70-ton mech, the Warhammer is inarguably iconic; both in function and canon. However a good solid 80-tonner with a variation in harpoints and jump jets would be nice to see added to the assault list as it stands. I feel like the Cataphract may cover the Warhammer's feild to a degree at launch. It would be great to see later, but as things sit, I would really prefer the Victor.

I've always liked the Victor. For an assault it is rather flexible. It has more armor than the Warhammer and can jump which the Whammy can't. It does lack in long-range fire power, but once you get close, it can really punish you. When it gets the gauss rifle upgrade, it becomes an excellent heavy recon/sniping platform.

I picked Warhammer. For you davionista's, there was a great 3025 davion variant, the 6D. Full armor, more heat sinks. Unless you are fighting in an urban environment, The hammer is gonna rip apart a Victor, all pilots being equal. Remember that even though the victor is sporting that AC-20, the armor isnt great.

Especially if the fight starts at anything resembling range, the Warhammer is the winner.

Warhammer, simply: i Victor may Jump atack me, but then i press the ALPHA strike Button,
The 'Hammer will be hot and the Victor will have a realy bad Time.

Btw get rid of the Small Lasers and the Maschine Guns and Ammo and you have a good Armored mech,
or 2 tons to Armor then he is well armored and +1 Heatsink

But even the Standard is well balanced, simply because the Game is made the way that the 50-75 ton Mechs are the most balanced in Speed and Equipment. 80 Ton mechs have to give up a lot for 4/6 Speed.

The Victor.

Warhammer has weak little girl legs. It's not just about total armor, but how it's allocated.

Warhammer. Aside from how iconic it is and my hatred of jump capable assault mechs (Mechwarrior 4 Mercs/Mektek killed them for me, I never want to see the Gladiator/Executioner or the Marauder II again...), the reality is that the Warhammer's weapon loadout is almost exactly the same as the Uziel's stock loadout in Mechwarrior 4 if you take out the jump jets, so hopefully it will cover both subsets of players (without introducing a jump capable heavy/assault...looking at you Victor...to the mix. It might be ok later, especially when the clans show up and the Kodiak comes out to play, but lets not go there early on.)
