First impressions within the first month of starting with BWC

The People; Friendly, courteous, and great fun. Coupled with an overarching organisational structure that allows people to thrive whilst still keeping control of things.
The Organisation is superbly run and coordinated. Everyone knows where they stand and what they will be held accountable for, and trust me no one plays lip service to the Rules. The level of properly authorised training is outstanding, teaching me elements of the games we play that I would never of picked up otherwise!
Fundamentally I look forward to logging on to see who’s playing what and get involved!

My first impression, and it remains with me even now, is that it’s organized, but not obnoxiously bureaucratic. I don’t need things laid out with perfect precision, but if you’re working with a group it helps if that group has some semblance of structure. Black Widow Company has all the necessary requirements of structure, hierarchy, leaders, Standard Operating Procedures, but it doesn’t move or behave like some faceless, obnoxious entity. When I’ve had questions, I’ve been able to ask whoever was around, and I’ve always had my questions answered.

But beyond my OCD’ish love for organization? It’s fun. It’s a fun group of gamers from all over the world who want to hang out, have a few laughs, and improve their gameplay. All in all, it’s what I’d been looking for in a gaming company.

First impressions within the first month of starting with BWC:

My first month in BWC basically blew my socks off, to say the least. I had been in other guilds in the past for other games, but none of them were as disciplined and organized as BWC. I joined BWC about two months before MWO closed beta ended, and from the trainings and the lance leadership in BWC, I learned that it is teamwork and discipline that really win 8v8 organized fights. Our dedicated command & staff created and organized spectacular in-house community warfare events, and they are the most fun I have had in MWO to this date. Today, our MWO regiment is still going strong, and we are definitely looking forward to the 12v12 matches in the near future. So thank you BWC, for making my first month of starting with BWC the most fulfilling gaming period of my life so far. Salute!

I'm wondering about BWC's stance on sexual harassment. I don't mean the straight forward shady PMs where people call females fat, ugly, ice-cold ******* after a rejection; most units generally frown upon that kind of thing. I mean the vague, unfunny kitchen and **** jokes that seem to target females exclusively in most majority male player base games.

To put it bluntly, I'm trying to get a feel as to whether or not I'll get "it's just a joke, get over it" from superiors in response to people acting like morons if I apply.

There are so many dedicated people here in BWC. If you are a productive member, there are so many options and resources for you. I’ve only been in the group for a few weeks and I've already had many events to practice various things within MWO, have multiple options to participate in face to face events, paintball, creative silly events in game, and planning our own panel at PAX featuring devs from PS2, MWO and SC.

I joined for the elite level of gameplay and organization within MWO, it's nice to have multiple games to play to make sure the group met my competitive requirements. I’m pleasantly surprised about how much the organization adds to my experience. I’m even enjoying some of the more Lore based missions that some members create. They are basically different scenarios to create a game within a game. The competitive side of me wants to always just hammer away at mechanics until I become perfect (which BWC facilitates too btw, and people actually show up and are /serious/ about helping each other improve)... adding in activities to break the up is enjoyable and even helpful as it gives me a broader perspective of gameplay.

It has been over a year now. it is hard to remember my first impressions. I do remember feeling a bit over whelmed at first. The BWC was my first gaming guild and I jumped right into the deep end with them. I wanted to take on leadership roles so I volunteered to help where I could. Everything I did was a great learning experience and I could see that what I was doing was helping even if it felt small I knew it was helping the company as a whole. I would suggest any new person to get familiar with the forums and to read up on how the BWC functions. Also if they are able to the best way to learn about the us is the volunteer for a support position if they are able to dedicate some time to such things. with out the volunteers there is no way we could be half as great as we are today.

First impressions for the first month with BWC

Having worked along side BWC before, I knew they were organized, but I had NO idea how big of a unit that this fine outfit was. When they were talking about Pro Gaming League, it really sunk in...I thought to myself "wow, these guy are bigger and badder then I ever thought" Also, would I love about BWC, the leadership doesn't tip-toe around. Being in the military, this is exactly I how I like things. This is how it is, if you don't like it, there's the door.

Overall, BWC has far exceeded my expectations in a unit.

To be quite honest I remember being a little intimidated. I had never been in a gamer group before so I tried to my best and what was requested. After a few days I noticed how kind most of the members were and their willingness to either help or direct me to anyone who could help me. BWC has some minimum requirements and during my first few weeks I easily fulfilled them. After that it was pretty smooth cause even though I was a new guy they did there best to treat me as if I had been there a while, now while that may seem intimidating they also were understanding when I explained I was new and offered direction to improve my experience.

Well the first thing I noticed, was that they sure were different to any other team I played in before. Then I found out about all the possiblities to improve in MWO or just having operations that add content like different rules and objectives to a game that still waits for that.
Oh and the average age is also higher wich aint too bad since I dont get exactly younger myself

The first month I started with BWC was quite busy. The first two weeks are getting adjusted to the group and how they conduct in and out of game events. The requirements to accomplish during the probationary period as a recruit put everyone on the same foundation to build from in whatever game they play. After that it’s was just logging in and there was always something going on either planned operations or ad-hoc groups working together.

Great question! I can tell you that we have a good number of female members. They are respected as members of the team, and treated as teammates. I have never personally never heard sexist jokes being told, but I can't guarantee that they haven't been told. I can say that leadership comes down hard on anyone who disrespects another BWC member, regardless of the circumstance, be it sex, race, religion, etc.

I felt like that structure and the added pressure of going through an application process would weed out the bad eggs of the gaming community. This aspect excited me as I hoped that once I got in I would find an elite gaming group. I love the military ranking system and knew that I would have to prove myself to go anywhere in the unit. I attended training in my primary game to show what I had and to also learn some things I didn't know about the game. There was large-scale operations, training, and exercises that taught me different strategies and tactics and gave me promotion points to move forward in my career at BWC.

I have not played very much yet as a group member, but so far it appears to be a lot of helpful, fun loving people. I hope to continue to get to know everyone much better.

I was impressed with how many operations, training and even non-game related things they have going on all the time. Their forums have an Operations Server that just lists the various activities across games and real life events as well. There is always something to do in BWC. It can take up as much or as little of your time as you want, and the members are very helpful.

Within my first month of BWC, I recall being very impressed with just how organized and structured things were. It was not only that, but the way that it was also fluid and fast-paced. One would think that a group with such a large organizational structure would take a long time to get things done, but that is very rarely the case.

After the first month of playing with Bravo Wiskey Charlie I realized that the organization and training really pays off. These are a group of players that know how to get things done, and build a sense of fun and community while doing it. When you are a member of BWC you really feel that you are apart of a well trained and well oiled machine. I've fallen in love with this organization, and I hope to play with BWC for years to come!

My first impressions within the first month of starting with BWC... This is a hard one because I feel it's an either say too much or say too little trying not to say too much kinda thing, but here goes. When I first started interacting, I was like, whoa. Totally hard core gamers with heart. They are committed not just to gaming, but to each other and to both camraderie and community--and that's just the non-gaming part. From a gaming perspective they really are elite, taking things to levels that I had only read about, not actually witnessed. And that "eliteness" (man it was hard not to use "leet-speak" there for that just for humor's sake) is an amazing mix of being elite while still wanting to share and grow and teach. Yes, there's structure that they adhere to, and rules of gaming--but they all serve very very well toward making gaming fun for all, and to build that sense of team and family.

I was very surprised to see that BWC had a very well organized administrative section for each game that would keep records of players achievements and contributions to the group and their progress within BWC. Training is taken seriously and while only the very basic courses are mandatory there are tons of additional training sessions you can go through for each BWC supported game to help improve both your individual skills as well as your skills as part of the team. And finally, on top of all the training and great support there's always the knowledge that we're all here to have fun, and you always have more fun when playing with friends.

First impressions within the first month of starting with BWC

After joining BWC I was actually pretty surprised. It is an eclectic and international group of players. It was great to be on TeamSpeak and realize my leader was in South Africa and other teammates were from Europe and Asia. A lot of the members are veterans/active duty of their respective countries. The esprit de corps is obvious once you join. Again, even though oceans separate some of us there are many strong friendships.
