I've been roping some friends from iRL and across the net into agreeing to sign up to MWO and download the latest MW4 version so we can start tearing each other apart and form a corp to much the same ideas as yourselves. Would be great to get a kickstart by getting some games in with some vets who can teach us the basics. We're standing at about two company strength right now, should be able to field most of that by the start of February. Will be largely complete newbs, unfamiliar to both MW4 and battletech, but some of us know where the buttons are and how to recognise a Mad Cat at least.
Side note: Did I see mention of Company of Heroes earlier? I could sport a round or two on that as well if you're game

EDIT: We're standing just shy of three companies, we're 32 on the dot if everyone who says they're interested and will be downloading the game does so and enjoys it.

As XO I think this would be a great idea. With as much time as we have, setting up mutliple Companies would be a Boon come launch day for sure. Let me know when you can get a Lance or 2 together.

If you wish, have your lads make Application to the RTG Guild and we can use that as a future Meeting place.

P.S. Lads, I will be keeping an eye on the NGNG TS server tonite and will chat, and or do battle, with all who appear and offer me a Beer.

So, to recap. Thank you Hanyit for handling the TS situation. Please pass my regards to Phelen for his generousity.
Rougue, your group is more than welcome to the Guards if you so chose. We've been wanting more folks to scrimmage and practice with using the MW4Free game. While MWO will most certainly not be the same a MW4 I'm confident that many of the tactics used in MW4 will cross over to MWO. Things such as unit movement, comms dicipline, roll assignments, etc are all pretty universal in any Mech game that the RTG has been involved in. And from what I've been reading about MWO the idea of combat devolving into the Circle of death will be rarer than what tends to happen in MW4. Additionally, the old Jump Snipe pin heads that you find online in MW4 will be muted a bit since MWO will focus, at least initially, on Urban combat. We can work on that as well.
Rougue, have your folks join us on the RTG website and register an account. Maxx, Crusader, or I will make sure that they are added to our forums.
And Hanyit, keep that eye looking for resources and folks. I'm going to rename you Gopher or Radar or something. Thank you.
Maxx and Fang, well, carry on. Oh, and find me a new ride. If I can't pilot a Bushwacker or Uziel then let's look into the possibility of an electronics warfare mech that we can aquisition as a command mech. You guys think that really cool Catapult will work?
Everyone, let's get down to some unit business. Head on over to the RTG forums on our team site to join the discussion.

We're having some teething problems getting our lot together, I'm by and large coordinating everything and the last couple of weeks have been rocky for personal reasons so this fell by the wayside a bit. We've been trying to get games running this week, but we're having a lot of issues with connection problems to the established servers, inability to host games ourselves other than on the LAN, and the usual general scheduling issues. Any suggestions to any common mistakes we're doing? We're having a tonne of issues with player's games crashing when we try to change servers, access the server list, during connections, all sorts.
It's not been a fun few hours I'll tell you that!

Rogue - I was wondering what happened to you. I checked the forums and don't see an account for you. What name did you use? The forum admin pinged when there is an registrant waiting for approval. Since you are listed on the team roster I can only assume that the registration request was lost by the system. Give it another go.
To answer your connection issues questions. We just went throught this pain with a few of our members. I believe the solution was a combination of setting your system to the DMZ in your router and a registry update offered by MekTek.
The DMZ will essentially open all network ports for your computer. Don't leave it there for more than the game because you are opening the system to the internet and all it's hostilities. The Registy update from MekTek sets the correct reporting server settings for the game. I think the default points to the old MechMatch servers hosted by Microsoft. You need to point at the server hosted by MekTek. You can find more information on this in the Mechwarrior4 forms at mektek.net.

You will need to create an account and request registration with the page. One of the admin will approve the account for forum use. If you have any issues please post them here and one of the team leaders will assist.

P.S. I hope they open the Story Contest again, I suck at Art, and broaden the size scope this time. I have a couple not so Short Stories from the MW/MC years.
