Just consider what the sight profile of this little **** will be. It will be able to walk between the Atlas's legbs and probably be able to face hug most of the mediums without being seen.

"Where is he?"
"Right in front of you!"
"I can't see him, where is he?"
*steps forward*
*crash*
*CRUNCH*
"Oh"

Im assuming its a bad mech because its 15 tons lighter than the jenner but goes the same speed.

It's gonna have a fire signature that could hide behind a Commando. The pictured version is a -15, which will have a ballistic and energy HP on each arm plus three energy HP's on the LT/RT/CT.

Unlike the Commando, you can actually mount firepower that won't go BOOM with the arms. Unlike the Jenner, you can fit some of the guns into the torso- in fact, you could be really wacky and strap an LL dead center.

At that point, you have a 20-ton laser cannon on speedy legs that doesn't stop firing until it's dead. It's not gawd-tier, but it's gonna be surprisingly hardy with a standard engine (and at 20 tons, it has tremendously good engine efficiency- a stock Commando engine would nearly max it's speed with current limits).

Did you notice the part connecting the MLs to torso?

It seems FD got a bit lazy and just downscaled Jenner's side toro in there.

I'm a little biased because I'm a heavy/assault mech pilot. Right now we have one 75 ton heavy. The other two heavies are a glorified heavy scout and a fire support mech. We have precious few line mechs. I would have preferred an Orion 1000x over yet another tiny tissue paper mech.

Actually we dont't have any 75-ton heavies, I don't think. And hey, I'd love to see an Orion too, it would be the perfect 'mech to fill that slot since we won't get a Marauder, but it doesn't need to come at the expense of smaller 'mechs. The more the merrier. The initial goal should be getting every individual weight slot filled, I think. We didn't have a 20-tonner, now we do. So that's good.

Did you know if you stick your arm out of the cockpit the 'Mech will actually start to turn?

On another note, I'm super thrilled to be using one of these.

What do you mean, "another"? This is the first 20 tonner we have. Commando is 25T.

oh good point, I stand corrected... still how much more is a jenner than a flea if you're looking for a speedy laser boat =/

Your Locust looks slightly off and you called it a flea.

You are correct - the Cataphract is a 70 tonner. I know diversity is good and all. I'm just grumpy. I'm not saying there shouldn't be any more lights ever, I just feel like other tonnage and role areas are lacking and PGI isn't filling them up. People complain about too many assault mechs. There would be fewer assault mechs if we had decent heavy mechs. The quick and small mech niche has been filled with the jenner, spider, commando, and even the cicada. Heck even the raven has speed. But if you need a mech to stand on a line and dish out punishment...you have the atlas, a K2, maybe an awesome with a good pilot. Other than the atlas, you have to shoehorn other mechs into that role. I just wish heavy pilots had a little more choice. Hear's to looking forward to the Highlander.

I think the release of the Flea is punishment for all of us for leaking the Highlander picture. Instead of an awesome jumping assaultmech, we get a 20 ton soda can. A fast soda can...

It looks like a Flea to me, not Locust at all.

YES YES YES! I loved that mech from MW3

Sorry Sir, but there was never a Flea in MW3! The Firefly (30 tons) was the smallest mech in MW3.

Soon, my Commando will be no longer the smallest mech in MWO.The Flea has a good loadout for a 20 ton mech and it shouldn't be underestimated. I'll buy one, two or three of these things!

I thought the highlander photo did not match the current artwork, I think that highlander in the PC mag was for the other mech game, Mechwarrior Tactics.

No.
Did you see how the mechs in MWT look like?
And that Highlander is clearly a work by Alex Iglesias.

I suspect that the lights and mediums would be a lot more common than the heavies and assaults, just because of the cost. Planetary garrisons could buy a lot more of the smaller mechs and cover larger areas Vs. buying one or two of the larger mechs and only covering their Spaceport... The same holds true for we gamers; buying a light or Medium doesn't cost as many C-Bills; it's just the economics of scale!

C'mon folks; this is the first new mech being introduced in a couple of months...personally I wouldn't care if it was a hoverbike at this point. I'm just happy that TPTB are still working up additional designs for the game!

BTW Devs: If you're looking for something different to fill the 75t slot; I'd really like to see the Falconer FLC-8R! B) ;) http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Falconer
