Start Inner Sphere... and then jump to Clan?

Will everyone leave for Clan Tech... and then nobody but the diehards will be playing the Inner Sphere?
...
Is there a point in trying to get WV together or any Clan together to wait... a year?
Any thoughts?

Don't worry man. We are in good hands. Nothing will be released in this game without the blessings of Jordan W and others. They won't screw us. It will be great.

When I started it was all IS... IS by itself is not boring... but if the clans are coming... how is it being handled? Thoughts? Again... all I have is time on my hands.
When City of Heroes was being released... it was forever on the forums, which is why I didn't start posting until last week. Don't want to be post insane by the time the game shows up.

Of course there is more than enough room for concern.
Either worry yourself to death about it, or ignore it and hope for the best.

Maybe that's the deal.. move to clan... lost 3/4 of your salvage/equipment etc... and now you can start over with Clan Mech...
Or stay IS...

It's a shame that many players aren't going to join the Clans for the same reason.

When I played the board RPG and various computer games, I was ALWAYS chose Steiner if I could. I'm not changing now, especially for $$$$/tech.

you start the clans as a lowly bondsman. you are stuck with your old IS tech. not only that you need to fight by clan rules, and WIN. so starting off you are outnumbered, and still expected to behaive like a clansmen. as you gain LP (or honor points to coin a new term) you become better off by getting access to some clan level weapons to upgrade your old rides, eventually being able to get IIc mechs and finally, when you attain the rank of a full clan mechwarrior, access to clan omnimechs. if you screw up? break clans rules? DEMOTION (no "honorary captain" stuff here, you LOOSE rank!). screw up enough? get ejected back to lone wolf status, loosing all your nifty clan gear, and having to start all over a damn again, includeing stuff you many have paid real money for. you should not have been such a ******. (now note, LP decay from inactivity should not treated with such harshness, afterall you may be a star colonol but you still have a real life too. hopefully )
the clans need to be (to borrow the USMC recruitment lingo) "the FEW, the PROUD, the ELITE". in the IS you can play as you wish, do as you wish, be as good or as bad as you like, but to make the jump to clan you damn well better be ready for a more unforgiving enviroment. with the Clan ER meduimlasers that are almost as powerful as IS largelasers, comes great responcibility and dedication.
the IS is for the everyman, the core game. the clans are for the truely dedicated, and not just some powergamer

Thus it might very well come to the point where IS vs. Clan matches are not common, but rather the exception. Don't see much of a chance for players of Clan pilots to ROFLstomp IS pilots. Not going to happen either way, because you can not force the IS players to engage the Clan players. Or in other words:

I will however play Spheroid 'mechs and will be more than happy to fight clanners on the feild of battle.

I personally hope we never see Clan pilots as playable characters. Captured Clan 'mechs, maybe, or reverse engineered versions using advanced IS tech is fine, but (as everyone will get tired of me saying) it was the introduction of the Clans that took away what was most interesting about Battletech - the game went from a struggle of knight-errants trying to claim enough salvage to keep the proverbial lights on to weapon platforms shooting each other at super-long range just because they could.
I guess that's why I'm also hoping we don't see a lot of gauss weapons. Luckily we're at a time period that won't inflict us with goofy stuff like MRMs and such.

IIt would certainly been an interesting mechanic if you could only become a clanner through becoming a bondsman. Maybe have a select group of players who start as the clans and play an infection style of gameplay. If you are beaten by the clans, then you have to become a part of the clans. Would really populate the clan ranks quickly....
