This is more of an information-gathering post than a direct accusation. Some of the intel I'm picking up lately from different sources suggests that PGI has been funneling the majority of the money they've been getting from Founder packs to InfiniteGame and Roadhouse Interactive - that is, MechWarrior Tactics. Supposedly, this is as an indirect bribe to prevent Tactics from launching before MWO (since, apparently, Tactics is ready to launch and is taking the influx of cash to polish the game and add new features).

There are also rumors that PGI is running out of cash to finish the game, and certainly MWO won't be ready for launch with most of the promised features.

Has anyone heard or suspected as much? Can anyone shed more light on these claims?

Does it matter where they spend their money? We got what we paid for. Its like a car dealership investing the money you spent on their car for dinner for their sales department or for a new outboard engine on the owners boat.

Tactics didn't start their closed beta until the end of August. Insider info has pointed to still being early in production; Totalbiscuit got to play and a lot of things in-game are incomplete or early dev versions or just missing.

I'm pretty sure when you put your whole company on the line, you have your bases covered, whether or not you get initial investors.
It can't be that expensive a project. Well, as far as PC games in the year 2012 go, I mean.

As for bribing the competition, why? Tactics is a turnbased strategy. It's like the battlechess of mechwarrior/battletech. Hardly a lot of competition between that and a teambased, giant robot sim-shooter.

Seems like misinformation/bad mouthing to me.

Hearsay accusations without evidence are rather flimsy and just make you look bad. We have no way to prove it and can't do anything if it's true so why worry?

Ps saying its not an accusation doesn't mean it isn't one.

Um yeah..... go with that one. Maybe you should have watched Russ's lil thing about beta/open beta and plans. Although a tad behind we should have a total of three mechs between last week and November + map + game mode 1 followed shortly by modes 2 and 3. Skins and such will be here shortly as well. I dont think they could give a rats *** when MWT is launched which is still in beta.

MWO will not be lauching with the two features everyone wanted in or even coming soon

Community Warfare
Clan Invasion update

Beyond that, it will have game mode(s) and mechs and maybe 6 maps. I have been assuming for a while that all the sales-pushing by Piranha is due to a cash shortage, but who can say. Certainly they are not going to publicize that.

As for them buying off a turn based game, why? Half the people here cannot stand the average speed of mechs so they buy XL engines. They could not possibly deal with the pace of a turn based game.

Just like I expect many of you never heard about Fallout until Fallout 3 and certainly never played any of the turn based games.

I'd imagine it matters if they can't release, or release with promised features. Every time I hear something about PGI, it's that they're blowing money or making unlikely promises. In any case, trying to clear out some of the muck.

Tbh, even if it's Founder money going to Tactics, that very well means this game is well off on it's own accord.

Also it's not really a big deal what they do with the money. It's theirs now, and they do what they please as a publishing company. As far as I'm concerned it shoudln't matter to the players, or affect them in any way.

2 Different Games Developed by Different Companies.

Yes, the Publisher is the same and receives some of the revenue from MWO, however PGI directly funding Roadhouse Interactive is pretty much a Conspiracy theory.

Closing for now. I'll ask an IGP or PGI rep if they wish to comment. I would not count on it tho, as this is confidential information the public would not be privy to.
