if this revitalization fails.. Mech Assault on the XBox will be our legacy.. I dont think there is going to be another chance for us old salt dog players to get more after this. The kids are just not picking this up like we all picked up on MW up to present...

I was 8 when I first played mech 2 thanks to my dad, it was the ati rage edition. mechs 3 and 4 were out at the time but i didn't know about them until later. I admit i was a bit late to the series, but that's another story. Anyway I'm 19 and a lurker.

I'm old enough to miss the platicard standups, little black feet, piles and piles of paper and anxiously awaiting the release of Citytech. For me the tabletop game still represents the ultimate Battletech experience. I fondly recall the 4x8 sheets of A/C plywood, lots of Mountain Dew and too many friends crowded into too small a room at midnight on any given Saturday. But, I have enjoyed the digital versions along the way and am looking forward to this new iteration.

Andar89, just remember that while you may have youth and skill, we old-timers have age and treachery, baby.

41, picked up the 1st BattleTech box set in November '84, have played every video game, except MechAssault -not a console guy-, still love the board game, and was extraordinarily encouraged by yesterday's Dev Interview with Mr. Bills.

Heheh. That may be true, all things being equal, Andar89. But what you're not aware of is your lead tech on his last shore leave built up something of a horrible blackjack debt to one of my agents. Have fun trying to lock on those beam weapons with your electronics bay full of spicy mustard!

Cheers!

I'm another of those "almost 30s". 5 months to go. No wonder the wife has been on me about having kids. :)

Started playing in junior high... 2nd edition. Played pretty much every video game iteration of the game except the MechAssaults. Been out of the table top for years unfortunately, it got lost in the transition to college.

Aye, Vixxie you old fart. :)

I am actually pretty impressed with many of the threads I am seeing from more mature gamers; no "l33t" names, real interest in the mechanics of the game, and folks that played the table top version as a kid. With a community like this, if the game delivers on promises it will be very cool indeed.

40 here :) my first intro to the battletech universe was playing the classic ibm version of 'BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception' where you played as Jason Youngblood (son of Jeremiah). It was top-down 2D strategy game that imo was ahead of its time :)

My first experience with BT was at Virtual World in the early 90s. Blowing up close friends and relatives was thrilling to say the least. Later I found out my favorite author, Michael Stackpole, has written a lot of storyline for the BattleTech universe. Needless to say, I was hooked for life.

I've played all the MechWarrior games (still do), tried tabletop for a while but few people to play it with, and gave Mech Assault a spin. Not a fan of Mech Assault, probably cause it is the least immersing experience being 3rd person view and played with a controller.

Anyway, it has been a long time since the last BT game came out so I'm looking forward to MWO.
