I'm with Mason on this one. I loves me some Archers. Out of the choices, ave Caesar!

How is the Excalibur winning? Who keeps voting for that? Is facebook comprised of comguards who hate having armor on their 'mech, or do people think it actually has a sword?

I really like both the Caesar and Cataphract, but I settled on Caesar. If anything, it needs a redesign more than the Cataphract does.

Of course, I wasn't surprised one bit at the clamoring for the Whammy. *cries* Bring my Whammy back!!

You are not quite right with two things: first, it's a Caesar who was copied from Cataphract design and could be called as its high-tech descendant; second, it's not reasonable to compare Caesar CES-3R released in 3049 with Cataphract CTF-1X prototype presented in 3025. Correct comparison should be done with CTF-3L variant of 3036.

I will agree with your first statement. As for the second, the source I am looking at show the CTF-3L available 3051, so for the purposes of this games release I belive Cataphract CTF-1X and CTF-2X will be directly competing against the Caesar CES-3R. But I from my perspective the point is moot since I feel that the CTF-1X and CTF-2X are both superior choices to the CES-3R, and I favor the Guillotine and its varients over either.

I like the new artwork on the Guillotine, but I do miss the smiling "Hi, I'm here to kill you today, would you like fries with that?" 'face' it had before.

Darn it.

I was hoping this poll would have an "All the above" button.

Seriously, I would pilot any of the listed Mechs, but I had to choose one.

So.... I went with the Excalibur.

The Caesar is my favorite. The Excalibur is kind of odd, and I'm also surprised it is in first. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

I voted for it because I can see it in a sniper role. It's speedy for a heavy and packs a Gauss and an LRM-20... good for long range shoot & move.

Definitely wouldn't want to use it as a medium to short range brawler.

Cataphract. It's a bit lacking in long range armament, but you wouldn't want to close in on one.

Let's be honest here, would the poll even have a purpose if I had added a certain 'Mech that starts with a War and ends with a hammer?

Only if you included the Archer, too.

Also, has anyone else read the Facebook comments? I don't think half the people voting have any idea what they're looking at.

Of all the 70 ton 3050 Level 2 Mechs, my choice would have to be the CTF-3L Cataphract. It has the speed when MASC is engaged. Has the best of both worlds with the ER PPC and the LBX10. Not only that but eh Cat is not ammo dependent and has enough heat sinks to alpha strike minus it's rear Medium Lasers
I even had to pick the Cat over my beloved Warhammer...but only because of it lower armor factor.

CTF-3L Cataphract: 4-6[8]-0, XL, 16[32]DHS, 176AF ***ER PPC, LBX10[20], MPLx2 MPLx2[R]
WHM-7S Warhammer: 4-6-0, ST, 18[36]DHS, 160AF ***ER PPCx2, SRM2S[50]x2, MPLx2, SLx2
CES-3R Caesar: 4-6-0, XL, 16[32]DHS, 168 AF ***ER PPC, Gauss[16] MPLx2, MPLx2[R]
EXC-C1 Excalibur: 5-8-0, XL, 10[20]DHS, 144AF ***Guass[16], LRM20ART4[12], ML & Sword
ARC-4M Archer: 4-6-0, ST, 10[20]DHS, 216AF ***LRM20ART4[12]x2, MLx2, MLx2[R]
GLT-3N Guillotine: 4-6-4, ST, 24HS, 192AF ***LL, MLx4, SRM6[15]

Now if the game mechanics allow hand held blunt weapons then I may have to change my vote...but for now it is hands down the Cataphract.

Yes i actually think the poll between the whammy, archer would definitely be close, the grasshopper is also a favorite of many.

I do wonder if the issues surround the whammy, archer, marauder etc have truly been resolved. It would definitely be a shame if they had not.

i think you guys are just putting up these "polls" to see what we dont like...and then put in all the rest

...and i think you guys already have that mech done since the Reboot trailer was of ingame footage. just a matter if you will release it

I strongly suspect that most people are voting on it by going "Oh, look, it has Gauss and LRM-20, it'll kill things fast" and completely ignoring the fact that it has the same amount of armor as a Rifleman. All that long range firepower is great, until someone starts shooting you with anything bigger than a needler pistol.

guass rifle is pure win in 3049, take it into the mechlab, downgrade the lrm 20 and top speed, up the armor guass ammo, maybe add some med lasers. you got a whinning machine right there.
