The problem with WoT is that it started out as a poor game and it still is.

I watched only a few minutes of it and could not bear to watch more.
I did take a look at the time index that someone mentioned and saw how he fired LRMs inside minimum range and did no damage.

So I simply cannot justify giving him anything but a dislike.

Yo Homie,

Stop coming to this guy's defense, the issue isn't that he is new or that he is bad at the game, both of which are apparent.

Hey bro,

I noted he clearly knows there is customization eventually and he doesn't present his video as a review. That only counts as "coming to this guy's defense" or being a "white knight" if you see every single issue as an eternal struggle of us vs. them where everyone needs to pick a side immediately and fight for it to the death. We can see this in your insistence we should all flame the video guy as hard as we can as a community in the fear even one person might decide not to play our holy savior of games, Mechwarrior Online.

Sensible people, however, realize I was pointing out a couple inaccuracies in some posts in this thread. Not that it did any good, since a bunch of posters still insist on calling it a review.

First releasing the founder's packages. Instead of an assault mech being a rare sight, assault mechs are every where. How can you build a game now with RPG elements if you can plunk down some $$$ and have an Atlas.
Second with the economy is still in development and somewhat frustrating
Third if you have scenarios that are "Kill the other mechs" then there is a tendency to assault mechs with the best build. If this is as involved as the game will be it will not last two years.
Fourth people love to customize mechs and try them out. If PGI sicks with the non-canon restricts on building mechs they will lose some of the market right off.

Hmm at the time of 3049 and 3050, Assault 'mechs were not too uncommon. Maybe in 3000 they were more rare, but this is the renaissance time during the Inner Sphere. Where tech and mechs were being developed and distributed. The Grey Death Legion found and freely gave out a Star League Memory Core which had several technical schematics to previous lost technology or lostech. Combine that with the Wolfs Dragoons on outreach who found a valuable Star League base and was secretly preparing the Inner Sphere for the clans to the fact that ComStar was worried about the House Davion and House Steiner alliance (the Federated Commonwealth) that they gave advance battlemechs to the Draconis Combine. Even though it was a mistake, ComStar did give House Kurita to rare and advance battlemechs - assault mechs to boot!

Operation Rosebud was a ComStar plan enacted by Primus Myndo Waterly to sponsor the creation of the Free Rasalhague Republic, an independent state composed of the Draconis Combine's Rasalhague Military District, as well as worlds taken from the Combine by the Lyran Commonwealth during the Fourth Succession War. In the Technical Readout: 3050 claims that an unnamed Precentor was responsible for the unauthorized release of several BLR-2C BattleMasters to the Combine, 'mechs which included the very advanced Cockpit Command Consoles. This unnamed Precentor was reduced to the rank of Acolyte, and was undergoing "re-education" on Terra as of 3051. How these events fit with the actions of Sharilar Mori is unclear.

Finally, there is a matchmaking system in play where if one side has 7 assaults and 1 heavy the other side will also have the same class of 'mechs (in this case 7 assaults and 1 heavy).

2 things: 1. This video broke the beta agreement, and 2. There will be paint/decal customization updates soon.

but that is for the player to decide, you can't just sit there and say blindly 'it's not for everyone.' Thats incredibly childish and dismissive. What a game dev does is, make it very easy to learn how to play*, once the player learns a bit they will make a choice to either keep playing or leave. I think its great to see this vid, because its showing many here to be just contemptible asshats. Do I agree 100% with the vid? nope, but to watch posters here squirm under general public scrutiny, that I like, because that is what the game is heading towards with open beta.\

*notice: there is a difference between easy to play and easy to learn how to play.

I think you misunderstood me. My point is you can't please everyone. Put another way "Some people just want to watch the world burn". So go ahead like or hate what ever you want, but atleast be honest about it.

Really? Dang I didnt know. But it was broken prior considering the fact that this video dosen't even have the new Mechlab scheme and the new updates.

The reviewer claims that he was granted access without an NDA. Not sure about that one, but even still he didn't do a good job of reviewing if that was his goal.

Yes well, IIRC theres nothing in the NDA that said you couldn't release prior NDA lifted materials after the actual NDA lift...

Of course, we know how... wrong it is to post "impressions" or "reviews" on an earlier build of a game than the actual build at the time.

And the creator is taking the "I didn't know I was just handed this account!!!" defense...

1st - He is lazy. So lazy that he dosnt want to type or remeber a password. He dosnt want to earn anything he wants to play 10 games and be maxed out.

2nd - he didnt reserch the game, he is playing a trial mech and wants to get props for playing it.

3rd - Hundred bucks this guy had a C average in highschool.

4th- he said it was hard to use the controls...pros use the keyboard in every game ever played. Discredited himself by not knowing WASD, demoted to newb status as a gamer.

I truely hope that none of you listen to this guys opinion on anything.

Lol at the commentors here wanting to defend that lazy sloppy joke of a video maker. He uploaded a month old video, pasted in an eye straining wall of text below it, then wiped his hands and said "done". I'd be embarrassed if that was my work. If you want to see real video makers, wait for AngryJoe or users at Blisteredthumbs to do a Let's Play on the game. I know he's got a Founders and I know another at BT that has a Legendary. They are very good, put actual effort into their work, and aren't going to pass up this title. Get on AngryJoe's twitter and tell him the NDA is down. He probably already knows, but if more people demand that he covers the game, he'll get to it sooner!

The NDA explicitly forbade players from taking any kind ingame footage or videos unless specifically asked to do so.
So technically its still a breach of the NDA, if the video was made while the NDA was still in effect.

Another thing to note is that by posting such old videos and at the same time complaining about its unfinished state, the guys is actually hurting the games reputations.
Some might take what he says for given and think that this is how it will be when finished, and as such not even bother to try the game.

I agree

However he stated that he was "given" the account for the purpose to "make his impressions"

Which is probably BS.

I agree.

This is just some random player who wanted to rant publicly.

Had it been a serious review of the game from someone who had been given access specifically for making a review, they would not have made a youtube video and would not have been ranting in this way, but rather made a more objective review.

Umm... Yeah. If you have no MC or C-Bills, you're stuck with stock mechs...

So, yeah. No customization... Unless you actually PLAY FOR A BIT.

I wasn't going to rag on the guy, but i did the mistake of checking out youtube.

His comment is as fallowed:

"This will be my one and only response to the childish, accusatory, uninformed comments that are populating the thread.
1. This is not a review. That's why it's called "impressions".
2. A copy of the game was provided to me by a PR company with an embargo date of October 3rd. I did not sign an NDA. I recorded the video during the closed beta period after playing the game for 3-4 days.
3. I could not purchase any mechs because I was given a free account, not a founders package."
jaguarusf

1. eh review, impression its the same crap. Kinda like saying "i don't hate your car, i just dont like it."

2. *takes time to stop laughing*........ok there are 3 things here that i find send up the red flag. 1. A copy of the game was provided? You mean somone gave you there account info which is agaisnt the tos? 2.Since you used somone else account (which your not supposed to do) you didn't have to click agree on the NDA agreement. 3. You agree that all the footage you shoot is completely outdated and pointless.

3. Did you not even try to buy new mechs? I know times were tight before the patch that week after you could still window shop.

I was going to let it slide cause maybe he meant well and didn't find the time to reshoot another review. But after reading his comment I have to call idoit sorry.
