Clicking on a Locker and seeing the Dress Uniform over time would be Cool. Perhaps your friends \ Merc Corp mates could also be provided permissions that would allow them to click your Locker as well.

"Look here Shmedley! I finally got that set of Brass Balls you have always been telling me to grow!"

"What Ya think eh?" LOL :(

or instead of a locker, say i want to look at someones ingame char profile. it would display there personally made avatar, in full dress uniform, will all there kill stats (if they choose to share such info) or faction history, or even how many historic battles (Dev events) they took place in. i think that would be pretty cool and would totally make us feel like were the pilot and not the mech. but of course getting the game done and working is top priority at this time

Now that sounds like a great idea, maybe toss this one up as well. Your helmet including logos of your house faction, your merc group, and some other customizations paint wise as well.

Great idea Bren. Much better presentation that just seeing a list of locked and unlocked achievements.

Also, x-wing ftw.

Have them go really crazy and let Merc Units design their own uniforms from a batch of uniform "pieces".

the whole idea is tacky already. please for the love of all that is good, no.

rewards should be meaningful, ie, "the general is impressed with your performance at so and so, please except this weapon/armor/ammo"

I knew I didn't like cinco but now I know why: He's a WoW baby.

I did this so I should get something that I can see and makes me feel better than people who just started playing.

I like this idea. Would also like to see certain titles that come with certain outstanding accomplishments like 10 successful scouting missions, 50 enemy kills, 100 worlds defended etc.

Come of these accomplishments could be house/clan/merc corp wide. Especially for mercs, could help with the hiring process and improve their MBRC rating.

This suggestion is ment to add some fluff to the game and to the people that play it.

As we know every Successor State has its own set of medals and decorations to honor its warriors and citizens.

How about those medals will be implemented into MW:O, but the conditions altered, so they are bound on certain conditions for the respective battlefield roles.

For example, the Distinguished Service Awards of House Marik are originaly awarded to warriors with a certain amount of destroyed equipment (leaf-shaped bronze pin with a roby for 500 tons, with an emerald for 1000 tons and so on). So in MW:O it could also be awarded to a scout for the enemy mechs he spotted, or to a commander whose orders were followed 1000 times or something (these are really just examples, there should be conditions that cannot be "abused" on the battlefield).

Then there could be campaign ribbons, awarded to each player who took part in either a successful conquest or defense of a certain planet, or "loyality"-medals awarded to House-soldiers/units and mercenaries for long-term service.

Thoughts?

Anything like this will probably be unlocked using faction Loyalty Points.

That's not a bad notion. I'm hoping Merc units also get to use awards. It would be interesting to see how such things got passed out.

Absolutely, Thorn. Armageddon Unlimited has a relatively robust awards program, already, and I would definitely like to see it active and supported in MWO, with me being able to set up the conditions for earning many of these awards. http://www.wolvesau.net/AU/awards.php

Yeah... some good old appreciation would be nice. Some of the awards could be linked to little boni, e.g. a 10 game XP or C-Bill bonus.

This is a very interesting idea. Keep their art department busy. I would love to see something like this if they go forward with a avatar creator, even if it was not in at launch. A very nice creative way to display your game's progress.
Why should THEIR art department be busy with this? I've already built the lion's share of the awards. The only thing I would be worried about with PGI doing this system is the ability to allow for multiple grants of the same award; in AU I have it so a second award is a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, each of a third and fourth is an Achievement Dot, a fifth is a Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, and a sixth is an upgraded award.

http://www.wolvesau....Award_Steps.pdf

http://www.wolvesau.net/AU/awards.php <- This is our units actual awards page, the above just being the progression of said awards.

I somewhat agree with you, Cinco. I am still debating whether or not AU will keep our MSRs (MechWarrior Service Records) after launch, especially if PGIs Merc Corps HQ system is robust enough, but if we do keep them, regardless, there are some awards that will not be 'billable' in that HQ system, regardless, and would have to be put into a menu awards system restricted to the Command & Staff members who have authority to grant those awards.

In seriousness, I think its a really great idea!

Would love to see a medal system for thing like this.
-200 hours for house kurita, davion ,Liao etc
-Kiled x amount of foes
-x amount of victories
Things that you get just by playing the game a lot.

And an achivement system for things that are hard to do.
-Kill a mech with a headshot
-Kill x mechs in one life
-Death from above
These should be things that the player will need luck and\or skill to get.

Maybe medals should grant loyality points for houseunits and cash for loners/mercs
Achivements should only earn you bragging rights (the skilled/lucky player dont need an edge(cash) on the unskilled/unlucky)

If it doesn't start looking too tacky, nice idea. Always loved how soviet generals/marshals of old kept the tradition of breast armor alive with pounds of metallic medals covering their front. (I could see the Lyrans going that way...)

Tacky, what's wrong with tacky? Minimumalism does have its appeals though, In My Almost Humble Opinion....

I've just finished updating my awards PDF that I've been working on since this I first saw this thread, so about 9 days, and here's the semi-final product: http://www.wolvesau....s/AU_Awards.pdf . I have two more awards to build, and we're holding a contest for the third one, but the idea was to get this up here as soon as possible, so perhaps the devs would see it. Why is that important? Because I went through and determined the possibilities of what could be seen in the Merc Corps HQ, as far as awards, decorations, etc., whether they could be earned through an in-game setting, or placed there by a member with permissions to give awards, and that various awards could be assigned so various permission levels would be able to assign them, etc. Once an award is assigned, it could possibly be set for promotion points, and promotions could almost be set in-game, though with as complex a system of figuring points-for-rank as I have, that might not be the best idea, either.

What I would like to see is a means of having the CO and XO of each unit, at least, get an email telling us if an individual has made an award, so we could tend our out-of-game pages.

For those of you looking for inspiration, if you find it, here, then I'm happy about that.
