Imo, "intimidating factors" that impress me are: Solid reputation of skill (earned by the pilot), team work and effective tactics that don't break down in combat (earned by the team). Off the field, unit solidarity can be impressive and intimidating. Each unit will have its elite warriors who make up the circle around the core leadership. Depending who they are, that cadre of warriors who fight hard, with skill and team work, are hard as hell to defeat. You may win a few battles against them but winning a war against that kind of team is a true test of your own warriors.
