Mostly I'd want it to be kinda utilitarian and military looking with Battletech looking fonts and colors. It'd be really neat to reskin things like the start button with a mech appropriate version.
Presently I'm running Vista still but I just got my copy of 7 and plan to install it in the next couple weeks when I have time to do a full wipe of my hard drive (I want to start fresh).
If anyone wants to point me in the right direction to try to make this interface myself please do =) If I had the time I'd spend a couple hours looking it up on google right now.... as it is presently all my "free" time is consumed building my mech cockpit =) It's really starting to come together as of today and I'm pretty happy with the results thus far. I'll post pics when it's ready!

however, if you want to make it yourself with input and help from the community, i suggest you do a better job on the thread title.something like "help me make a mechwarrior windows theme"
best regards.

Chill dude, the guy never asked the devs for anything. He just stated that he'd like an OS theme AND is willing to make it himself.

Looks like a normal request for assistance from anyone interested in helping him to me... no need to go ballistic on the guy.
@Corsa
Great Idea, Im no artist, but I have some great Ideas for the direction your looking in. Possibly Mod the start button and taskbar to be part of a graphical cockpit, add buttons to linked to commonly used programs, heck we could even change desktop Icons to look like splattered bugs on the windshield lol.

Reactor online
Sensors online
Weapons online
All systems nominal
Or else regardless of how nice it looks, it'd never be close enough to what it should be. =P

Thats a freekin great Idea... Going to do that right now.
You know, I got to thinking about how the voice in the Atlas drop said all systems Online, thats not such a bad thing. It could have been talking about Life support, Gyros, and the hoola girl

Bad cinco! This is not a Steam/CoD/WoT forum...go here and perform the necessarily atonement (ala drink something).
So let's get some resources listed so peeps can take a crack at this (I haven't messed with a custom theme in ages, normally I change the desktop pic and that's it).
Rocketdock - dock animation, custom stuff
Dreamscene - 3D/video background wallpapers.
Win7 Startup Sound change - untested.
Mothership - How MS wants you to do it.
Desktop DreamScape - make your own vids for background themes (hmmm...seems too easy)
Ubuntu has some interesting options as well (imagine that)
compiz
Oh and imagine @1:44 of this vid, that cube being the innersphere map -

I grabbed a Hunchback screenshot, and made it my desktop. Then made all the other In Game Screen shots into my screensaver.
@ cinco seriously, relax. Take a deep breath, and think before you post.

There's really no need to be so combative. We're all ,mostly, mature adults here. And at your age (Roughly 28?) I am sure you can figure out how to interact with the community in a more positive manner.
Cheers.
