Paul, thank you and the others you wrote this message in the name of, for listening to us. While i appreciate the part on the founders time, I was not one to cry out loud on it. Still, it's nice to hear that you will take care of that issue. Pushing the start of open beta further down the road defeinitely is badly needed, and I assure you, your listening to this WILL not only give you more options in terms of gamedesign and improving chances for the game to really succeede in the market. This move, a direct reaction to the pleas of many of us, will reduce the flaming and bad mood in the beta forums drastically. People can now again feel being taken seriously, and people will put more time and effort into doing well designed postings and will take care of proper argumentation for that.

Of course, for me as a premade/competitive player, the reduction in teamsize to 4 + randoms will be an annoyance, and will take away quite a bit of fun. Simply due to each time having a chance to get into a team with some jerks who are too stupied of unwilling to follow their group. On the other hand, while i dislike the aspect I just noted, i FULLY support your move, and to be frank, I don't see any other way to improve matchmaking for newbies than to do what you just announced.

I'm very happy to see open beta being pushed backwards... we really need a little more time (especially with DX11)

And the premium counter solution is REALLY GREAT! :-)

Thanks!

To all those that keep saying... Phase 1 will be a short phase: Are they planning to allow 5, 6, or 7 man groups again after Phase 1? No? Then ****.
My issue is the limiting of groups to 4 (or less) or 8, with nothing in between. They obviously have the means to have the game do matchmaking of pre-mades vs pre-mades (or will soon) since that is what they plan to do with 8 man groups. All I am asking is for them to look at the smaller groups, those with more than 4 but less than 8. I guarantee there are a lot more of those types of groups floating around than the strictly 4 or 8 variety. If you can match an 8 man... match a 6 man... and just fill the gaps with PUG players. Instant team balance there and everyone can be happy.

I was very concerned with the game going "live" in his current state. It is much appreciated the some of the complains are seen and listend too. Thank you very much for postponing the open beta and "adressing" some of the reasons in the near future.

In general this is good news - great news in fact for most of it.

In specific however, the changes to the match-making system are... how to put this... oh, yeah: ********.

Seriously, this game desperately needs a way to properly manage groups in-game. We need a lobby system that will allow us to choose to drop against specific opponents, or drop into a specific game type against another group looking for game. But we need to be able to make the choices at the player level, not just be handed decisions based on some arbitrary rule-set built into the server.

I play with a group that on an average day fields a team of 5-7 players, with 11 being our highest count. Taking away our ability to field a team of 6 players is going to make us very, very unhappy, and I suspect that this is true of many other player groups.

PGI, why are you restricting our choices so harshly? Why aren't you working on giving us MORE choices?

Why are you making it so hard for us to enjoy playing this game?

That's good to hear, I still think the open beta needs a LONG pushback though. I know that you guys over at Piranha want nothing else than deliver a kickass Mechwarrior product, and it must be tough to juggle the limited resources when under constant pressure from both the community and other forces that want the game out as soon as possible. I hope that you guys can keep the spirits up and fight for your visions, with the right amount of time and resources this game could become something really cool in the future.

I'm also part of a group that has 5+ players on a regular basis. Why not just match same-size groups against each other filling the rest of the spots with randoms? These changes will prevent us from all playing together for no good reason. My whole group is extremely unhappy about this.

I don't give a rats *** about PUGS or competitive play. I play this game to play with my friends. This makes the game not worth my time.

I'm done with this game.

Can anyone tell me how I go about requesting a refund of my Founders purchase and get taken off the mailing list?

For gods sake, please tell me that this is ironic. ^_^

Good to hear, especially about the premium time start, this means I cancelled my request for refund of founders package.

Never should the capacity for the human race to produce itself a 'champion' who will find a dark cloud inside the silver lining be underestimated... ever.

Seriously. Best example. If we were paid twenty bucks an hour to beta test someone would still gripe they weren't being paid cash. If we were then paid twenty dollars cash per hour to beta test, someone would still gripe the bills were too crisp, not crisp enough, not numerically sequential, were numericaly sequential, not being handed out by Paul Inouye, being handed out be Paul Inouye, being stabbed multiple times in the face by other members of the forums who know where they live... etc... etc... etc... ad nauseum.

PS Paul, if I misspelled your last name, I'm sorry. Very sorry. Please don't hit me with the pink lightning if I did.

This is good news. Players have spoken, you have listened and responded. We all, even the people who complain a lot (me) want the game to succeed. This is why we moan. If we did not care we would not even bother to read, let alone post on forums.

Thanks to the devs.

i'm just happy to see they are making progress on the playability front. as for the matchmaking it sounds like they just over thought it. the matchmaking was actually pretty good it was 8v8 or 8v7 and the mech classes from each team were similar. pug vs premade is a non issue to me. some people want to play in teams and some don't that's life. they probably should have just worked on a system for pitting specific groups against each other. that way if a premade wants to pit themselves against a premade they can and if not then let the pugs roll the dice. i play 50/50 pug vs premade and once this game goes open the number of premades will be probably closer to 1 out of ten drop ships so most pugs would end up playing pugs and when they do go up against a premade they loose and realize they have a lot more to learn about the game.

omg... some of you are like babies: waa, waa ... the lollipop I bought wasn't sweet enough!!! ^_^
there were said from the start: premium counter starts withing open beta! AND NOT: premium counter starts, when ALL stuff is implemented!

Premium time is only a "small" part of a founder package!
So why this stupid refund requests?

wait a second.. does dat weird matchmaking means, with an 8pre team it searches for another 8pre team AND searches for same weight classes? i already can smell it.. "failed to find a match.. failed to.."
besides the thing taht this will tear apart MANY teams... there are so many ppl who play with .. for example 3 ppl in a group.. or 6.. they are friends (real life friends maybe) and now u want to FORBID them to play together bcs someone cries about the incompetence of some pug players..
this matchmaking is nothing i would be proud of, and yes; i KNOW that it will still be changed and this isnt the final solution

on the other hand the statement itself sounds fine..
