Pretty please, before you go open beta, also fix some easily fixable, but very noticeable things: non-remappable keys (BattleGrid, Chain Fire, Reverse Throttle) and ability to adjust mouse sensitivity in-game.

I would add that the "i" button which takes away those horrible lines and names on the battle grid should be sticky. Right now I always press "b" and "i" in conjuction because otherwise the map is unusable. If that "i" would stick, would really be great. And yeah, it should be remappable as well :P

Great.

I can then start my premium time counting down when the game launches out of beta.

edit: it ****** and drives competitive player groups off the game in phase 1 ..

Phase 1 will be short, so surely you can manage for a while this being beta and all? Stop being so whiny and elitist. When we go to open beta there's gonna be lots of newbies around. We gotta teach them how to play this game. What better way to achieve this than going out with a group of 4 and then instructing those other 4 pugs on the basics of the game? The community warfare aspect will arrive later and make this a more serious team wars game. But at the start it's VERY important to get as many newbies attracted to this game or this great game will just die away. So be patient, my young padawan, let's first get this game on its feet by attacting as many customers as possible and then start building on the competitive aspects.

it is hard to teach pugs when they aren't on comms and just doing their own **** .. trying type it all will lose you the match :P
and also .. in phase 2 pugs play with pugs and the ones that want to fly in 8man teams play against 8man teams .. no difference for the pugs :D

Yeah well of course it would be better if we could go to phase 2 immediately but that may not be a viable option. So phase 1 is a required step in the mean time, it shouldn't be the end of the world for anyone.

I just wrote above how I think the premade vs premade should be done in order for it to be flexible conserning the amount of players so no friend has to be left out. But I really cannot easily figure out how PGI could accommodate groups of 5-7 without diminishing the fun of other players.

Do not listen to the complaints of players who do not wish to belong to a clan or a house ! That s the background of this game !!!

Do not turn the world of battletech into one more fps f2p !

since when fights, war etc are balanced ? Make a balance like in the rules with the tonnage and not the number of players !!!

Mechwarrior is a game that takes its meaning with houses and clan ! It is the pugs to understand that they have to join or create one structure because is not a game where an alone wolf can live !

All this game is about teamplay , pugs have to deal with it , be recruited if they are good or try to learn to figth in solaris !

In the current state, like many, i will took a step back for the payment of my pack legendary founder and expected to have more information when the following events and decision about the gameplay.

I left eve online and killed all my 5-6 years character because their choice turn the game into the crap that we know today ( extra super size gang of the same ship , supercap for the boring time and lost the small gang spirit that i like the most , .
I left world of tank because the game ( random free for all ) with pugs is a total disaster and because the sound of benefice is too strong for me , in this game you can't play a tiers 9-10 if you dont pay a premium , even if you finish a figth sniper and top killer , ammo cost and repair burn the benefit .

Dont follow the step of other f2p , make your own , make mechwarrior online like he has to be from what we know about the background !

Death to the pugs .

Whilst I approve of the basic concepts of your comments, however it is true to say that if you or a product stay in one form/format too long and you become like the dinosaur, extinct! Real Life and Virtual Life need to evolve not remain locked and static or the forms & entities that make it up also become backwatered and extinct.

It also rather like when a film is made from a book, a good film conveys the essence of the story staying true to its concepts but highlighting key aspects but could never realistically follow the book in question too closely as costs and time would disallow it, plus it would be incredibly laborious to follow/play as in a game.

In short some of the great MW ideals and concepts will have to stay in story form whilst others can and will be implemented in game play, that’s where the balance takes place. And you have to fill in the rest using your mind and created forum stories etc.

Let the pugs do their thing. You don't have to play with them if you don't want to.
Soon as they put in phase 2, you can group with 7 friends and fight premades all day.

The one thing I am still waiting for, is a simple way to block an individual without having to add them as a "friend" first. Putting an in-game option, where you could click on their name and block, so after the match, you never have to see them again. If I could block people very easily, my gaming experience would go up about 1,000 times on this game ...

I'll keep my post simple by thanking the development team to inform us whit their plans.

It is hard to make a good product and there are lot of challenges in development with up and down.

Stick in there developers, and we will try to get you the test data you need to make a good end product.

The phase 1 changes really take away my desire to play. These changes open the game up to trolls who will play to wreck other people's enjoyment. They can afk, or even shoot their own teammates and there will be no way to choose not to play with them. If you can organize a full team with friends then you can eliminate this common mmo problem. Please reconsider.

Thank you,
Blix

I dont want anyone to take this the wrong way but, oh come on there are alot of us out there that would like to be in the closed beta and are not and have been waiting a long time for this to become open so that we can participate in this mechwarrior universe. I understand that you want to make sure all is good before open beta, but if you are going to delay could you please let us how much longer we are going to have to wait from what I have been able to see online that has been released all looks pretty much ready. I have been doing battletech and mechwarrior since the beginning and I cant wait for the to be opened. So please, I hope it will be sooner then later.

Goto the tentonhammer website and get a closed beta key. Or one of the many other gaming websites that are giving them away. Hell, you even get one if you buy a US copy of the newest PC gamer mag + get a custom skin for your mech and a in cockpit bobblehead.

Right...Guess alot of us will choose to sit it out until it goes open because our teammates havent purchased their way into the testing group. We sure can't CHOOSE to be in pug VS pug battles, yet.

it's still a long way for "released" ...
in view days it goes open beta... so everybody can start to play the "incomplete" and "growing" game
if it stays as projected, the game will never be finished, because it will follow the time line of battle tech getting more and more new stuff! :-)

To be clear, we're not talking about months between Phase 1 and 2. It'll be rough, but not an eternal wait.

Garth,

Is the PGI team still pushing for 24 player servers? That would be 12 pilots on a team.

Great Stuff, Garth, especially the push back of open beta.
I am hoping for a date near Christmas for open beta.

My only concern is MM, but I will reserve judgment until I see it.

Great stuff guys. Keep it up!!!!
