that can be a issue because it can turn into a mining game. I can not say the last beta that happen to and it a active game. The formus on the other game has the issue of to much mining or collectiing resources.

...WTF were you beta-ing?
Wipe at each beta stage, and during, is basically SOP. I was shocked and more than a little concerned that OB isn't planned to end in a wipe as well.

I am actually looking forward to phase 1 of the matchmaking updates! I have seen quite a few posts that don't like it, but I would suggest they use that time to build their lances and figure out tactics before the 8 vs. 8 is implemented. Lets face it, 'blobbing' is fun, and can win you a good amount of games, but being proficient in your lance builds makes allot more sense. Get used to building different styles of lances and how they can be utilized will be a great skill to have later on in this game when you are campaigning for longer missions or planetary assaults etc.
Well that enough from me, keep up the good work and keep the updates coming!!!

This was not obvious to me upon first reading. I had to go spelunking through a few posts to arrive at that conclusion. So be nice to those who were confused
IE, on first read:
- WILL start ticking => OK this sounds absolute to me
- Around Open Beta => This makes it sound like we can start early, but above is absolute

I dont see your Issue, I have been through at least 4 wipes possibly 5 although I lost track in there somewhere when they wiped mechs but not pilot skills a few times. Its a Closed Beta not a Demo or a Trial, accept that wipes for Closed Beta are a necessity & move on.
MWO is primarily a skill based game and as a player in the Beta you should have improved your skills, learned the maps & mech loadouts that work for you. This will give you some advantage on Open Beta launch day over players who have not even played the game yet ! really what more do you want ? We are in the closed Beta to help make the game better not to actually get a headtsart.
Nowdays Open Beta = Headstart/Demo/Free Trial in the minds of 90% of gamers so generally there are no wipes once Open beta starts.

lol dude relax, I stated what has happen before to me. I have had ships,weapon, spec chg, removed in a close beta. Lvl or exp nope basically it like the founder thing that if i was not in a $$ crunch I would have brought in. I have no issue with a wipethere but noob will because they will not know that there are vet{beside founders} that will toast them in a heart beat. Meaning noob in other games knew right away that lvl xyz is going to kill you. They can do want they like i am good with it because lol i will not be a noob{well less of a noob but not a vet}

ANYWAY, I hope PGI has rethought that Phase 1 or Phase 2 - 4+4 system matchmaking system. Personally I think Match Matching isnt broken and doesn't need fixing. Old adage, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Not to lay hate or wish ill of the game.. but the more I think about it the more I absolutely HATE the proposed Matchmaking... I don't see how in ANYWAY it helps with PUGs vs Teams, or Pre-mades vs customs.
When we are on our TS server, we often have just 6 or 7 players.. its bad enough when we have 9 and have to let one wait out while we lose one or two.. But more often we are in then 5-7 range, so you're basically going to screw half our team. Sorry 4 is not enough, and then making it 4 or 8 is also complete non-sense. On a given night, in our TS server we wait to get to a group of 8 and slowly build up. When we get to 8 there is a little rejoicing because then we can play together as a full group.. but it takes awhile to get to that point. Add to that, if we have to break into groups of 4 on the TS, then it lessens the community feel as we have to break off into different rooms and such. Then with the 4+4 system, what happens to our 5-7 players as they wait for others to show..
AS you can see that will damage community continuity.. for what I ask FOR WHAT..? To reward whiners and complainers. I don't get it, your compromising the game to the detriment of communities and groups that have formed.
To me your punishing the community because the C3 thing doesn't work well. As a program, I like it and it's not bad, but it is confusing to use for some, and it's not well understood. It's like you just slapped it on, it doesn't feel integrated like the WoT voice and team setup. While the WoT system isn't perfect by any stretch, it does seem to work well for noobs. Want to fix this, have C3 installed with the game, have people to have to elect to NOT have it running, and incorporate it better. I try to use it along side of TS3, and have NEVER had a teammate show up in the C3.
The fix for C3, is quite simple. First get people to use it.. and as long as the NGNG and MWO Beta and other FREE TS Server options are there no one will. People use what they are comfortable with. Because, right now no one will invite you to a group in MWO, or have you in a group unless they are already in that groups community, which 9x out of 10 are already using the NGNG or MWO Beta TS server, or their own team speak server (in our case). You should have C3 launch in the background and have it login automatically and not look like a separate program.. INcorporate it it somehow.
Then when you match make, have those that have been matched up put into a C3 room just like a formed group. If a formed group already has a setup room for the drop, then drop the pugs into it. That would help the community and the game more than this 4 player nonsense. It would also get people to meet each other. It would also make C3 useful.. Currently its no better than a TS or other option.
Basically, don't punish us with a stupid mechanism because you haven't gotten something better to get groups together than you currently do. I think you will find if you launch with this 4 player thing, many will hate it, blow up the forums, and in no short order a lot of communities will break-up, leave or simply fade away. None of which I think will be good for the game. The 4 player system, I guarantee will be more HURTFUL to the overall game experience than anything else you have elected to do to the game since its inception. It DISCOURAGES Community.. it doesn't help or fix a thing.. SO PLEASE DON'T DO IT !!

Unknown..
The BIG patch that would have been the Open Beta patch is supposed to be today, but I think they want to QC it first in closed to make sure what happened two weeks ago doesn't happen again.
If I were in Vegas, I would bet Open Beta is next week (with no patch). Giving them a week to test this patch and make sure everything is stable.
