Unknown..

The BIG patch that would have been the Open Beta patch is supposed to be today, but I think they want to QC it first in closed to make sure what happened two weeks ago doesn't happen again.

If I were in Vegas, I would bet Open Beta is next week (with no patch). Giving them a week to test this patch and make sure everything is stable.

But i wanted it to start today!

Kudos for pushing back the open beta.
I also checked out the Tutorial Vids - Excellent.
I have emailed them to friends that are interested in the game.

Thanks

The matchmaking changes are ********, frankly. There should be no reason why it needs to be strictly player limited like that, this discourages playing as a group and encourages playing solo for the sake of dumb matchmaking.

What is wrong with matching teams of +/-2 players, combining incomplete teams with solo players or other incomplete teams?

For instance. 8 player team balanced against 2x 4 player teams or a 7 player team and 1 solo player? Or a 2x4 player team balanced against a 6 player team and 2 solo players. Or a 8 player team balanced against a 6 player team and 2 solo players.

No, it's not perfectly balanced but neither is 8 competitive players vs 8 casual players in a team. What it does, however, is it enables all the participants to get a game faster, is more flexible on player counts and everyone can have fun because some organization always exists. It's never 8 player team vs 8 solo players.
If a team wants perfectly competitive gameplay, they won't join a queue with 7 or 6 players in the first place. You could even make it an option to only be matched against other complete 8 player teams if the team desires a perfectly competitive environment.

But seriously, If you have 5 friends on, you can't magically get 2 more from somewhere. Does that mean you have to play with 3 of those friends and have 2 of them solo queue? I mean come on, that's ********. Even if this will unlikely ever be a problem for me personally, I can't but express my opinion on how dumb that idea is.

Paul, tell the team they've done a good job.
This game makes me feel like a mech warrior.
The premade teams are a bit much for those of us who just drop in to see giant robots explode.
But also i've been in some lovely brawls with cool players.

After my mates saw me play this game after the NDA was no longer in effect, they got on the last train to foundersville.

I wish good fortune for the future of your project and i hope that PGI's vision for the BT/MW universe comes to pass.

In the mean time, pass me some LRM's and a good spotter.
Let the Light pilots know, us big guys appreciate you.

Long Live MWO.

Just a quick one RE: the C3 post on the previous page.

C3 is never going to get people to group up no matter how good or integrated it is, without having an in-game lobby for people to organise and chat in first.

Just gotta yell how frustrated I am with the fact that atleast 50% of the matches are against a pre made team..
Really planning on quit this beta stage because never getting any wins.. Not getting any money to buy better mechs and weapons..
Having to grind for hours for getting even one mech is just terrible. I just hope that pre made teams fight ONLY with each other.

You most likely are not facing a lot of real premades.
Unless you can verify each and every loss is a premade then you may be equating losing = premade, which is not correct.

The best thing to do is to join a group. PUGing sucks... period.

What stage is this in at the moment as i would agree it seems that most of my games i play against groups that seem to work together very well? As an experienced gamer i am not equating losing with grouped opponents, or mistaking my lack of knowledge about maps etc. The enemy group often whipes us out with no loss to itself i would say about 80%.
As to the fact that we should all join groups, i have just joined the Beta and was not aware that this game would cater soly to the hard core crowd. If they are making a game just for people who obsses over it then they will brobably not make much money and it will fail.
Some matches should be against groups that are random to give players a chance to get used to the game, not just be used as cannon fodder for the clans.

There's losing, and then there's getting completely wiped 1-10 kills by a premade and your group is all random pick ups.

I'd say 90% of the games I've played aren't even close. The losing side gets around 0-3 kills before getting wiped.

And the winning team? Always always ALWAYS the one with more founders badges

League of Legends has a good matchmaking routine for this. Every player has a ranking used to find similar skilled opponents, and premade teams have their ranking inflated to compensate for the fact that they have more communication.

I have played all three types of mechs trials/owned/and founder mechs on a different account and I can tell you they are constructed internally much different. We took the same founder models in a owned and trial version and just 1v1 and the founders mechs won 90% of the time piloted by various same skilled pilots. We tested during matches in non combat places like our own teams base. With out having the models and taking them down to the wireframe itself in 3DMAX or a similar program I cannot prove the founders mechs are different but in actual testing yes they are much different and they take twice the damage a owned mech of the same model would take and four times the damage a trial mech of the same version would take. Thats why the matches are so lopsided in favor of founders mechs. When they change the matchmaking we will see if it becomes more balanced.
