think you'd be a little disoriented having a cockpit shaken, being near death, and being shot at by something MUCH bigger than you, he could had been green

I wonder how this will be handled in-game? Like,when clans become playable, will players who self-identify as Clanners have different names in their mechbay?

i think for my fav clan mech .... both clan and IS names are winners..

Summoner / Thor ... love both names

And sometimes - the IS name is better.... eg : Vulture vs Mad Dog , it really does make me think of a Vulture more than a mad dog

Actually for quite a few years there was no Clan Designation for it. I wrote to FASA at one time requesting that the Clan Designation be the Zombie. Never heard anything back and then I saw a newer version of the Technical Readouts and Lo-and Behold there it was..'Ebon Jaguar'.

? You mean the Clan Wolf led by Vlad Ward who killed TWO Khans (one of which was an ilKhan), reversed an illegal Absorption, started a new era of the Clans with the Harvest Trials etc. etc. Yeahhhh I think the knock off is living on Arc-Royal.

Jokes aside this sounds like a good idea. Have the Clan players see Clan designaters and IS see thier designaters, would make sense, due to the fact that when the Clans invade the IS wouldn't be aware that the new flashy mech thier firing at even have names

I do not see why we cannot stay true to the Battletech Universe.... When you are in a Clan battlemech, you would see the PROPER clan designation for that battlemech. When you are in a freebirth, excuse me stravag dog Inner Sphere battlemech, your heads up display should show the inaccurate IS name. So when you are liberating the IS pilots from the confines of their cockpits you will be piloting your Timber Wolf.... but they will see you coming in a MAD-CAT.... but alas this cannot happen until the MARAUDER makes its presence known upon the battlefirelds of the Inner Sphere.
