To my understanding, lances are arranged just now on time zone alone. But since not all of us will be on between 7 and noon each day we will be reallocating folk more on when fellas tend to be on together. I also think that lance numbers themselves may flex a bit, 3 in some, 8 in others. And that our Lance Officers might have to be a bit flexible themselves when it comes to leading jobs. So don't fret over it now. We have a couple of weeks before I need to do any real work.

And then there's us, all of those people who just drifted 'cross the 'verse until they found the ol' Dropship Serenity. Sure, lots of us come from... colourful backgrounds, but we're all equals in the Browncoats.

Far as I know we come from the seven corners of the verse. Some are on the lamb, others orphaned or exiled. And just a couple are plain ol' lost. But regardless of where you're from (or why), you're welcome here. The one solid string I can see is this; to a man, we don't take we'll to piracy.

I've no intent of wearing a brown coat unless I fall in some mud, but that being said; I am a Merc. There's a reason me and my people aren't just another House unit. Some people might take that to mean that I'll do anything for a few C-Bills, but that's not the way my people and I see it. We don't march to the drum of some tinpot dictator just because they buy us a few PPC's. A man's got to live with his decisions; to make the hard choice when he has to.

I'm happy with the contracts I've taken with the Steiners so far, and I've not had cause to disagree with their requests. But I'm not fool enough to think that will always be so. Someday, the call's going to come down, telling us to do something we think is wrong; maybe a bad target, maybe a mission that puts my people in harm's way for no good reason at all. It's inevitable. And when that call comes, maybe the rest of the Galaxy is going to look down their noses at me, and my mechwarriors. Or perhaps we'll take a stand, even when they tell us to stand down; when everyone else boards their dropships and heads for home, but we're still standing against the long odds.

But even if the whole galaxy stands against my choice, I've still got to live with those decisions, and so does my company. So call us unconventional. Call us rebels. They say we've got to follow the rules. They say we have to dot our I's, and cross our T's. We're supposed to be good little lackeys, and leave all the thinking to our betters, but I say differently.

I aim to misbehave - at least when my conscience dictates.

1] Is the hanger on fire? If yes, it's rescuing, not stealing.
2] Have we razed the rest of the base yet? If yes, it is salvage, not theft.

Be sure to read the handbook for definitions on who can be designated 'Enemy'.
