Zeus is the clear choice. Flexible loadout, respectable looks (visually similar to a poor man's battlemaster), overall no major flaws.

Thug looks like another PPC fanboy boat, with a little backup firepower. Reasonably good looking, but honestly we're going to get an Awesome, you all know it.

Victor just looks like an Atlas with little armor and added jumpjets. Plus no LRM's. It does look reasonably good (a bit like a giant Firestarter).

Two 'alright' mechs and one 'good' mech - Zeus wins this round.

Zeus definitely gets my vote! I've had some good times with that lovely 'Mech while playing CBT. I also totally agree about the Awesome... in fact I actually followed the Facebook link here because I thought that the button to vote for the Awesome had accidentally been cut off!

I picked the Thug but I'd rather have the iconic Warhammer or the Warhammer IIC. I wished the Warhammer and Warhammer IIC were part of the poll, but I guess you can't have the Warhammer IIC yet since the Clans haven't invaded yet.

The ZEU-6S and -9S certainly are well equipped with heat sinks. THe ZEU-6T isn't, but that was only produced in limited numbers due to both heat issues and interference problems with the inhibitor field on its PPC.

The 6T isn't nearly as bad as other mechs of its era. It does require a little care with your heat meter at times, but that is generally a worthwhile tradeoff for the much more effective PPC.

EDIT: BTW, 6T's heat issues weren't keeping it out of production, it was a bad interaction between the PPC's particle field inhibiter and the mech's fusion engine. The 6T was put into mass production when that issue was resolved. However, 6T's aren't as plentiful as the older 6S because both were phased out in 3048 in favor of the 9S model. The longer production run of the 6S makes them far more common. (The 6S was in production from 2898, the 6T from 3026. The 6S was in production 128 years longer.)

I submit this poll is possibly flawed.

It shows 80 ton mechs... and no option for the AWS-8Q.

If it is already in, GREAT!!!

If it the AWS-8Q isn't planned, the AWS-8Q gets my vote.

I realise the Zeus is going to win, but damn guys - the Victor and Thug are exactly tied.

Like I said...they are ALL good mechs. :(
They each have their good points and bad. But overall they are liked in general...

Why vote for the Thug, when we can keep demanding Warhammers?! The Thug is BASED off a Warhammer, because the Warhammer is the be-all and end-all of classic mechs. Give us a Warhammer, then give those guys the Hatamoto-Chi later.

I also remember something from the interviews saying that the most customizable aspects of mechs will be in their weapons loadouts, and their skin options. That being said, if you want PPC's, I'm sure you can buy them and put them on any mech.

SO, you can throw out the Thug. Then you have the Zeus, which is the best looking in the poll and the Victor, which is a niche mech - but is also the mech of Patrick Kell and later Peter Steiner-Davion. (Nondi Steiner drove a Zeus, btw.)

The Atlas may be made by Defiance, but is old as hell. That means all the houses and mercs have them. The Zeus is the perfect Steiner mech.

And if we really, really have to have a PPC boat, give Laio their Panthers. : )

And, yeah, if I drive a Zeus, I'm definately going for the original version which trades out the AC5 and it's measly 20 rounds of ammo for a PPC and another heat sink.

As a PPC man I'd always choose Warhammer's big brother - Thug. But somehow I thought they weren't that widespread, were they?
But if this poll is to decide which mech will be put in the game, I'd say forget about Thug, it's too similar to WHM, but take both Victor and Zeus, they are classic and both of them should definitely be in!

Voted for Thug, re-voted for Zeus.
