I think that BA is integral to the clans way of combat. Not having them would be a travesty. If you dont like them, then dont drive one, its that simple. You would have to give up being a mech pilot to do so any way so its not like people will be switching back and forth.

Yeah, they are odd exceptions to be bringing up at this point in the timeline, but I just wanted to point it out.

I'm going to leave this one open... it seems that no matter how many times these threads get locked and we state that you will not be getting out of your 'Mechs, the topic keeps popping up. That being said, all future topics on battle armor will be merged into this. Then one day, we will make this thread explode.

I feel your pain Paul!...its like taking a bunch of people that swear the sky is purple with pink clouds..dragging them outside and showing them the blue sky and white/gray clouds..and they still don't see past there noses.....continues to face plant desk!

If there is no plan for vehicles or aricraft, then I don't think battle armor should be included either. Once there are non-mech options, I don't see why battlearmor wouldn't be included.

You know what, this was my reaction, and then I stopped my eye-rolling and decided something. Fine, you want your battle armor? You can no longer pilot any mechs, must be from the Clan until 3052, and you take the place of 1 mech. BUT, you don't get the super-Elemental that tries to balance out having an entire point into one pilot, you only represent 1/5 of a Point and have all the stats from Tabletop (only 11 armor, two shot SRM 2, sub-machine gun, small laser, horrible speed). The first time you complain about it being unfair, your character gets locked down.

Consider this: BV of elemental point vs BV of a single mech. The rest of the team(that would be 7) could roll the most expensive mechs available. Oh, and 5 elementals could do nasty things to an assault, caught alone in an urban environment.

I'd rather see a nice spread of IS 'mechs to choose from at launch than a bunch of battlearmor choices that are either clan-only or post-3050s anyway.

You'd literally need 5+ guys with an effective BA melee/swarm mechanic implemented and another timeline.
In short - no ******* way.
Though the clanners could buy 5 AI Elementals riding on their mech, ready to sick them on a target in close combat as a "weapon".
That would be.. adequate.. I guess.
I mean I am all for making the battlefield true to live by using such AI enemies, maybe purchable by some sort of commander or something. But as a player unit?
I don't see that beeing done well enough for it to not suck, sorry.

Yes, after running around in Crysis2 for a while now I can imagine all the fun to be had with infantry, vehicles (wheeled, tracked and hover), Aerotech (helicopters and atmospheric, as well) and even battle armor. Would be the stuff of combined arms fantasies. Would be incredibly complex, but would be incredibly pulse pounding. Infantry running through the sewers, BA trying to hobble the Mechs, anti-BA vehicles trying to protect the legs of their big cousins, AA gunning for those pesky bombers, etc, etc. All of it immensely thrilling.
But, please, later.
And no, Paul, I'm not asking for the world. Just a little slice about 2,000km wide.

That being said it would be fun as hell to have 5 guys try to take out an atlas but I dont' see it happening in the current format that keeps being discussed by the devs. It's Mechwarrior online Not Battlearmor online
