Led Zepplin- the Immigrant Song

"Immigrant Song"

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your overlords.

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing.

Both good FRR songs for the Clan invasion, "Come Luck" and "We Said No".

Clearly the anthem for the FRR has to be this:
Ensiferum - Victory Song

Lyrics:

The plan of invasion an Evil deception Was made in the halls of the dark kingdom To steal their riches To slave them all To make them kneel for a new God

The Guard woke up the sleeping men With the sound of a bronze horn The enemy is getting closer So brace yourselves for assault!

Swords in their hands they killed each and every man Who dared to invade their sacred land Victory songs are raising in the night Telling all of their undying strength and might

Arrows are raining from the sky As brothers fight side by side We're outnumbered But our destiny is to win

FIGHT! Fight with the rage of a bear! DEFEND! Our homeland! CRUSH! Crush every enemy! AND SEAL! Our victory!

Swords in their hands they killed each and every man Who dared to invade their sacred land Victory songs are raising in the night Telling all of their undying strength and might

Ei urhot kaukaisen Pohjolan Uhan eessä taipuneet Jälleen pauhaa kansi taivahan Veri valuu maahan lumiseen Moni nähdä ei saa huomista Moni jää heitä kaipaamaan Jälkipolville jää maa rauhaisa Voitonlaulut soi ainiaan

[English translation:]

The braves of the north Didn't give in before the threat Again the sky dome rumbles Blood stains the snow Many don't get to see tomorrow Many will be missed Land remains peaceful for progeny Songs of victory will sound forever)

Swords in their hands they killed each and every man Who dared to invade their sacred land Victory songs are raising in the night Telling all of their undying strength and might

Swords in their hands they killed each and every man Who dared to invade their sacred land Victory songs are raising in the night Telling all of their undying strength and might

Maybe not Viking music, but March of Cambreadth has always been one of my favorite "heading into battle" songs.

That's not really a bad thing though, I think that there has been to much "viking metal/rock/other" types of music posted. That style of music is really a minority amongst what is available in Scandinavia in generall... even within the Metal/Rock genre it's self it's a minority. There needs to be more diverse stuff, because there is more to be had then just Viking music. The song you posted is not really my style of music, but hey, even if it's not my style, it might be other peoples style. ;)

On to songs... hmm... I have realized that a vast majority of all my music does not necessarily fit as "battle/combat music", so I have to digg a bit deeper to find some. So let's go with some Clawfinger for now.

Clawfinger is a Swedish group that started in 1989 in Stockholm (half of the members are Norwegian though, but they joined in 1990), and they are still going to this day... they seem to play a lot of live stuff, more so then maybe your average group. Their style is "Rap Metal" (don't let that scare you away though if you don't like rap, to my ears it does not sound like rap... at the most it's how he sings, mostly a sort of talk-singing), and "industrial Metal". They are known for their aggressive yet melodic music, with most of their stuff having intelligent lyrics which tackles everything from politics, racism, religion, people. and the ridiculousness of people in general.

Maybe a bit more information then what's needed, but hey, it's what I do... write to much.

This one is old, atleast 20 years old (album which was recorded in 92, was released in 93, but the group had been playing since 1989). Granted it's probably more anti-war then anything, but hey... war is never pretty. so that side should be shown to. :( Also, ignore the fact that their videos might not be "the best", I think most of them where selfmade, and this was the early 90's after all. :P

This song is atleast 15 years old (album was released in 1997). This would be a pretty good song to "psych yourself up" to. Granted considering Clawfingers nature as a group, and the nature of their lyrics, this song is more about showing just how ridiculous it is to think stuff like this about your self. But, none the less, it still works to pump your self up for a fight. :P
