As for the hand activator . . it has 4 fingers, that is enough to grip stuff with.
And it looks roboticool too. I say it's good like this. Kinda like tha battle-fist on the Dreadnought from WH40K fame . .
Only part i don't like is the narrow waist-line . . that just looks to fragile for my liking . .

Alex took the best elements from other incarnations of the big A and make it his own.
I especially like the left "hand". Instead of the standard manipulator with 5 fingers we get a grasping claw to rip armour assunder!
Epic!

After months of Awesome Chuckie Posts, we can now get down to business.
How much for the Mauler in the corner, standing next to the Warhammer?
So Chuckie and Awesome are to be an obvious twined concept to be made from now on? Someone say Mauler??OOOH!!!!

AWS-9M - The 9M is an upgrade of the Awesome that uses Star League technologies, and was introduced in 3049[5]. The 'Mech is built around a 320 Hermes XL Fusion engine, giving the 'Mech a top speed of 64.8 km/h. The heat sinks were upgraded to double heat sinks to allow this variant to be rearmed with three Fusigon Longtooth ER PPCs. The ER PPCs are backed up by two Hovertec Streak SRM-2s, a Magna 400P Medium Pulse Laser, and a Diverse Optics Type 10 Small Pulse Laser. BV (1.0) = 1,469[1], BV (2.0) = 1,812[9]

Unlike several of the previous re-booted Mechs, the Awesome already had many of the core re-boot designs lines already in place and only required a minor face-lift.
Kudos shout-out to Alex... nice.
Heck, I might even pilot this beast now!

It's.....freaking.....perfect!
In all seriousness, it's a beautiful mix of the old (chunky with the four-fingered claw) with FD's personal spin added. I love how the torso mounted PPCs appear to fit into slots and then attach to hardpoints under the shoulders. Looks like it would make for easy replacement of damaged weapons. There are also what look like heat sink vents in several locations.
Another great piece of work, FD. It's right up there with your Commando.
P.S.
Devs, was I right in this thread when I guessed that the Electric Playground Interview showed a quick shot of concept art with the Awesome in it?

Beyond that I'm not impressed, the best artwork in all the world can't make this design anymore useful to me. PPC's are grand but I'm not betting the farm on them that's for sure. I'll be waiting for a much more balanced design to swear myself to.
At least I know from the community response that there will be plenty of these on the battlefield for my lancemates and I to disassemble with tactics that prey on it's amazing weaknesses. So I guess with that silver lining today is a good day!

We need a proper mech to fight in, too.
Steiner has Commando. The Atlas is made by several states and used by all.
The Liao's use the Catapult a lot. Doubt they're going to put another light (ie Raven) in the game as there are already 2 scouts. I'm betting on a medium or 70-75 ton heavy next. If it's Liaso it would be Cataphract, which is somewhat Marauder looking.
The Medium would be a Dervish IMO. There hint in the Awesome introduction (Incoming Missiles) makes me expect a missiles boat. A Vindicator is a possibility, but I don't think it will be that.
