There's a lot of sci-fi other than BattleTech out there with mechs. Just wondering which mech is your favorite.

There are not 'Mechs not in BattleTech, 'Mech is actually trademarked with BattleTech... so a Mech, or a mech, or even mecha or Mecha, but not 'Mech.

There are mechs outside of battletech? Well now I've heard everything. Next you'll be telling me the USA has a black president, and swines flew.

Seriously, I'm not a big fan of other types of mecha, outside battletech they just don't make sense to me. That's one of the reasons I love BT so much, it just seems so plausable to a certain degree, far above others.

That being said, I like the lifting mech thing from Aliens.

The Mac II monster 200+ tons of roving death, now that would be some long range kill shots if you made it a battletech mech

There ARE mechs outside Battletech. They're best named as warmechs, mind, due to trademarks and all that jazz.
One such example is, of course, the Titans of Warhammer 40k fame. Ranging from roughly 40-some tons, on up the scale. The largest Titans tower over even Assault-class Battlemechs like the Atlas, and easily hit 20,000 tons or more. I mean, ****, Warlord Titans carry entire artillery batteries on their backs and call 'em point-defense guns!

Another, smaller, example is in the Command and Conquer era. The Mammoth Mark 2 battlewalker. Roughly 400 tons, mounts two massive double-barrel railguns, a double-barrel 20mm Machinegun turret, and two back-mounted SAM launchers. It's quadraped, mind, so it has better balance than the biped stuff out there...
