and an injection of fresh eyes is precisely what this game needs.

It can be cleary seen that in current state the game is not ready to go public. More than that, by dynamic of last two month, it`s seems that devs don1n know where to steer. With all respect, it can`t even catch BT fanbase.

I have to agree with the Devs. Games have to launch. Open betas always have bugs so let's go get them, but fix the dang heatsinks because the current game is ridiculous.

Meanwhile it is normal, that when something is not working from the first moment.
The whining can be heard everywhere from all the ppl who followed am game with
too high expectations.
The a whole bunch visions off black-painting will be posted in the forums
and the game is declared as dead before it is really brought to death.

And thats the difference between the game and car industry:

In games you can take part as "test-driver" before the game got it's final launch.
The system with the founders are new to the industry
to give the programers money to make their work.
Before this idea, the games are made by existing studios who had to invest a lot of money on their own.
Pre-orders were there too, but the money were lying in the shops, and the studios got their money only then, when the game
finished and shipped to the shops.

In cars not, even you can pre-order the car (like be a founder here)
but no producer would give a person who bought the car already a half-ready car without air-condition and radio
LOL

TL;DR version:

Assumption of risk. Everyone who shelled out cash knew (or should have known) that the development cycle might not be exactly to their liking.

If they dont do it now, it will just get pushed back to another date then a load of people will be whining again because something wont be right. They have to push it out sometime soon.

I used to be a founder.

And I used to be a billionaire. Then I lost everything because my whiny pessimistic attitude drove everyone away from me.

Sound familiar?

Sure i know, that doesnt make it any better. I change mine before i log in the game aswell cause i use ESDF, but you completely missed the point. You need a safe comfort zone to press everything and see what it does precisely. Most people wont bother to read about the game before they try it, they will install and enter the game. And they will be thrown like lambs to the wolfs. From the install screen to a deathmatch. Its simply not the way to introduce the game.

Do you need a safe zone?

I cant remember there being one in counter-strike, unreal, quake, TF2 and the controls are the same.

The weapon groups are a diffrent matter, but when you got invited to the beta you were given the links to the forum where all this information was provided

I wasn't being impatient, they literally added the premium time button 3 DAYS before open beta.

Are you going to make me link the definition of "impatient?"

Quote

It is the very literal equivalent of paying for a full retail game, but instead of the full game the developers say, "Oops, actually you paid for the full game, but we are only going to give you a game that's halfway done". That's what happened and THAT is why I asked for a refund.

Well, except that Founder's was never promoted as being guaranteed the full game, but rather access to the unfinished "game in progress" early. And what you receive was never cut off, you'd still get the "completed" version when everyone else did.

If you'd had the patience to wait, but we know how that worked out.

Actually, the controls are very different. And Unreal Tournament definitely had a training mode.

FYI this game crashes a lot. The reason when you see people running in circles or disconnecting its because the game crashes.

Its not because the game dont crash on YOUR system, the game is stable on every computer.

Mentioned titles are shooters. MW:O is suposed to be a simulation or at least simulation'ish. Apples and oranges.
Apart from that there are people who think an empty map or training ground would be helpful. So why not just implement one? It can have no negative effect, just positive. Why argue against something that's pretty easy to implement and improves the game?

This game is muich better built than say World of Tanks at release, with about the same amount of maps and game play styles. WoT took over a year to give more than one game type, it just had capture the flag/death match at launch and even with massive imballances in that game it's still running strong.

Despite WoT had a lot more maps at the start of OB (yes, WoT is still OB), you are right! But WoT has sth. from the beginning where MWO actually can't compete with: a really fast progression for new players! Within hours you'll have moved past half of a tech tree, what made such a strong loyalty to the game. And only loyal players will pay for it sooner or later. Beside some BT-fanboy-thing i don't see any similar in MWO. You can complain about graphics, music, matchmaking, tutorials etc., but that are only secondary issues compared to a gameplay-system which doesn't hook new players within the first hour. WoT did it almost perfect. In primetime on EU-servers there are over 100k players online at the same time, more on RU-ones (and maybe even US). In MWO we have actually 1500? 2000? (can't see the numbers anymore because PGI deleted it from client) - worldwide! How many Founders Packs were sold?

Well, i know what you will answer: it's just BETA! Right, but that does not mean everyone should close his eyes and start to pray. What are beta testers for if not discussing issues, bugs and other things which could be better for a sucessfull game? The "everything is fine"-fraction will never be responsible for changings and progression, but the "it would be better to do it so"-fraction will. If no one is complaining about issues, nothing will change.

I love this game...:D Keep doing what you're doing. I like it - alot. I would have prefered not do the modular think until the Clans...the Inner Sphere does not have the history of making custom mechs, only repair the scrap they still have left over. But its ok...its a nice game.

This thread exemplifies why they are going into beta.
They need new fresh unjaded people playing and testing at this point.
And for those who get refunds on their founders, I wish they would remove them from the beta and the beta forums as they simply shat on the game with their lofty game ideologies and 'i work on games, so i know what im saying' BS.
Yes there is still a lot of work to be done on this game and PGI will have their plates full for many months to come. I for one feel they have addressed the community and the games issues very well, more so than many games I have played beta in. But unfortunatley we are in the age of entitlement and as such we experience more whining than ever in the past.
Again...This thread exemplifies why they are going into beta.

Fixed<3

Also, FWIW Landshark, it's almost conceptually impossible to pull a "full 180" on a release date. Technically, pulling a "full 180" on a release date would mean: waiting until that date and then announcing they're not going to release the game at all.

Also as a lawyer it is difficult for me to take seriously your claim that " PGI decided to change the agreement between me and them AFTER I paid my money."

I'm not sure I understand how you can't take me seriously about that?

1) PGI said one thing (offered in their agreement)

2) I spent my money based on the one thing. (based on the agreement details)

3) PGI changed that one thing (changed their agreement details)

Is it really that hard to understand? I figured you being a lawyer it should be pretty easy to understand the concept.
