Heheheh, Die Glocke.
Respect to those fascist evil krauts if they actually managed to make a flying saucer. I'll help you dominate the world if I can fly one!

I really don't care. As long as it has laser guns and those EPIC SEISMIC CHARGES I'd say it's just a fighter with an actual cargo hold. I think the Millennium Falcon is the best example of a personal freighter,

I'm sorry to say, but Gun Bear is right in this regard - Slave I is not a space fighter by any stretch of the imagination. You may personally consider it a space fighter, but Star Wars canon itself considers Slave I a patrol and attack craft - and canon trumps personal feelings in this regard. To put it in modern terms: The Slave I is less like an F-15 Eagle fighter, and more like an A-6 Intruder attack aircraft.

In fairness on Slave 1, EU canon is hardly a definitive source when it comes to the actual Star Wars films, and since it's strictly film material being cited, that makes anything the EU says rather useless. Now if the films' scripts or novelizations (which ARE part of the same canon as the films, as identified by Lucas) identify it as such, that's different.
On the other hand, Slave 1's design is not very much like that of a starfighter.

On the otherhand in X-Wing Alliance, the firespray handles BETTER than the Imperial Gunboat fighter. So if fighter is as fighter does.... it is a fighter with an excellent cargo hold. Another fine product from Totally Games and Lucasarts. Fairly sure anything involving Lawrence Holland was considered canon in the production of that series from X-Wing on up. Technically, it is a freighter though.... on the upper end of the kick butt scale... but still a freighter. At this level of performance though, classification becomes useless for anything other than petty debate and increasing post count (guilty).

I'm bumping this thread I found by accident from several years ago because it's lack of Kilrathi Dralthi fighters was a huge let down.
