Claiming a love affair with the Warhawk is like bragging about lusting after Christina Hendricks - probably true, but not all that unique

All i can say is ... i do lust after Christina Hendricks.... i have a thing for redheads... ahhh... well.

We don't suck, we're just getting senile. And I never idled inside base, I idled on mines, and then ran from the DC response, meanwhile cursing the idlers in base ;-)

Holy ****, some serious geek cred in this thread. MU*s defy description. I've never played games as rich, challenging, or rewarding as MU*s. *

...but damn is it hard to introduce fresh blood.

Heck, I have always been senile...
Good to see some OLD names,

Creed, I was Thardon Helmer (aka Ard Loremaster in CJF). I remeber Eve aka Skuld's deadly skill (luck) in the Loki. And the Thor-D was one of the most fun mechs on the field! Pewi played btmu* for many years, but horsy dropped out... I forget most of the rest in CJF

Ok, for a group name in the game for all us old farts who love raw telnet, keep it simple... BTMu
Raw Telnet Rules!!! I wonder if we could overlay a raw telnet control over this game...

Ard aka Thardon Helmer, 3056, 3030i,ii,iii, vraxis, 3065, 3029.........

PS. 3065 addy is btmux.com 3065
Not tooo many people on these days but idle there at least...

Wow. It's good to see all you old vets around. ard, null, vp, groz, tene, etc. It really takes me back. I started out on 3065 and eventually worked my way over to 3030 around 2002 I think it was. I missed so many classes and even called off work a couple times just so I could op. So many great memories of a game I enjoyed immensely with a lot of great people. I just found out about this game tonight. I do hope it will offer a game type like what we all loved. You can count me in on any group you guys decide to form!

ges

btw, what is the addy for 3030? I tried a couple different ones and wasn't able to connect.

Hard to pick a unit name for us all because A: we all have our own factional preferences which makes it hard to agree on a historical unit and B: al the best "generic" units are taken.. but I could be wrong.

Historical names everyone would agree on would be things like Wolf's Dragoons, Snoord's Irregular's.. but then there are some that might be more obscure and not taken yet.. McCarron's Armored Cav (MAC, although some would argue it's status as a near-house unit for Liao exclude it), Team Banzai (Sure, it's Davion but they are REALLY just a bunch of NAIS instructors and truly never in any real important fiction.. cuz it's just a pop culture reference to Buckaroo Banzai.. pulling it out of things just enough to crazily go for....)...

Everyone in BT likes, or can agree, to Kurita...?? So Legion of Vega is an option...
  • Out of BT Canon names we coould make up for our theme range (some are truly laughable, but hey.. why not mention em):
  • Muse's Musing's
  • Munchkin Urbanmech Xpress
  • 1st BenGay Battlemech Division (Age reference, not Gay reference :()
  • Fallen and Can't Get Up
  • Voltron Coalition (Reference to the old tactic we know and love.. the first ever MMO Blob tactic.... for the record...)
  • MUST KEEL PENDO! (For the fact everyone who likes Pendo endorse's the phrase, and anyone who doesn't like Pendo endorse's the phrase. We can agree on something!)
  • BTH12 (Feel free for a cheesy acronmy to cover it, but the simple elegance that truly separates us from the video-graphics crowd and supports the mechanics we know and love... "BTH12... 'nuff said".)
  • The Partial Cover Headhit Blues Band
  • Video Killed the Telnet MU*
Perhaps if I was still a young braen dopehead my imagination would continue, but alas.. I'm old and mindless and that's all I got.

A forum, a teamspeak... discuss it on a TS/Forum chat for awhile and then run a vote on the forum?

The proper pronounciation of this option is "Video Killed the M-U-Star".... :(

Brings back memories...... Played them all back in the day.

On 2056, was part of the Snord's Irregulars, ws the crazy pilot who drove the Kraken-II.

If any of the Snord's are still around PM me.

Been so long, can not remember the names I went by, but I think I was Dixon back then.

I used to play on 3030. Callsign was 'rusty'. Oh how many walls I ran into... and that time I fell in a lake and landed on my cockpit...

My favourite memory was when someone collected the bounty on Sink because he'd idled in a hovertow that someone took out and got ganked.

Once upon a time, I played as Vincent_Vega... (alias: slot) on 3056 and 3065 I think. Oh those were the days. It's good to see to see the revival of the old BT MU* communities.

Tene, you old son of a Griffin. Good to see you didn't fall off the face of the Earth entirely.

Anyway, checking in by now - I ran for a long time on 3030, back in the day. Recon for life and all that. Still have my LCT-1M reflexes from the Gauntlet, too!

Well, whatever yall decide on for a company name, please sign me up... Sysop/hardware hosted BTech3056 as Yer while it was in NMSU then netaccess, and alter ego Mussad Degora in Comstar. Still remember logging in for the first time; I made a typo with the name creation and ended up as " 'Yer " - the apostrophie meant that none of the regular admin commands would work on me, which sent Jammer into a tizzy trying to "catch the spy". I was hooked, and bought hardware to host with soon after... Keeping the site up was a total PITA, my apologies (so very long overdue) to everybody for all the issues back then. But damn it was fun. Except trying to build beta versions of GCC from source. Or trying to track down the reprobate that stole the system memory. Or trying to stay neutral during the Guzzer Warz. Or trying to connect from Japan via a ppp connection with 2-5 second pings. But ya... FUN!

Actually, I've still got the old btech 3056 SCSI disk in storage somewhere, the controller is bad (i think) but I'm now soooo tempted to drop the $$$ to see if I can get it recovered, just to see what's left in the old com logs and DBs...

Jammer...that is funny. I went to college with him at the time, him and Babyface. Last I heard, Jammer was engaged or living with some girl... don't remember too well, lost track of him. No idea what happened to Babyface.

btw, Bianca...Marcus.. any of you want to put something together / lead this thing?

Who here wants to step up and how many want to make something happen? I know it is early, but the sooner we gather people together, the sooner we can build upon that number.

Who here has ideas?

Dog.. you in?

Anyone know what happened to Saint (sin)? Went by Saint Kincaid for a while, there was someone later on that took his alias on various sites that wasn't him.

Good to see you here slot, another name that I can remember.

On the name front, we could use one of the old Star Leauge unit names that are listed as unknown in the sourcebook. I would need to check it again, but I do recall the 151st Royal Battlemech Division as one.

With my CET timezone, and work meaning I have to get up before the times I used to get out of RS in my MU* years, I would be less than efficient leading stuff ;-)
Besides after MU* I avoided leading guilds, only leading pvp in WoW, and hurling cluebricks in PuGs. Gotta love the training we gave to new Mechwarriors.
And you made me look ;-)
Found a couple of those divisions in the SLDF list:
151st Royal BattleMech Division (The Ulysses S. Grant Division), 326th BattleMech Division (The Manteufel Division), 213th BattleMech Division (The Carver Division), 295th BattleMech Division (The Blue Star Division), 287th BattleMech Division (The Tobruk Division), 359th BattleMech Division (The Montgomery Division),
And more and also independent regiments, but I stopped here as I was getting obsessed.

I'm also pretty time constrained with work as well and tend to travel every couple of weeks for a few days where I won't be online. So I don't think I'm a great candidate to lead the unit either.

Happy to help out in whatever capacity when I can, but no guarantees I'll be online every night and for much more than a couple of hours a day. The only plus is I moved from Australia to NY about 5 years ago so my time zones are a lot better now...

I'm happy with any of the SLDF names B)
