Checking in for old BTech MU*
'Name' changed a lot but the alias stayed the same, so using that as the pilot here :)

Hey, I remember those things. My last memory was blasting around a lake in a J.Edgar at top speed making life interesting for some slow-pokes. :)

Hoovers were always fun...but I enjoyed the Zephyr more. Though for speed, nothing beat the Savannah Masters--sadly they were just too fast to really hit with.

***** Very nice to see so many people from before. Though I think the first one I was one had no clans, so not sure if 3056 fit that mold or not. I was in Kurita and the only other player I really remember was Yoshiko. Names seem familiar, but that was almost 20 years ago.

Dirk Daring aka Galavon Pasig (Clan Steel Viper 3056) checking in. Howdy all!

I found that 10 or so years ago on an old drive. Bring back memories! First website I ever made.

Sounds like a plan to me. Especially given the devs goal of having units work together (recon, strike, assault) in missions would be something we're all familiar with.

I remember trying one out one day. At least ten years ago. First I had to stare at a wall of commands that made no sense, then I had to figure out how to start my training 'Mech up, then I had to figure out how to steer it with almost no visual information (go go text based graphics!), and then I fell off a cliff and died.

Oh man, that brings back memories. I've been in a few Btch Muxs. I remember taking my first steps in a Phoenix Hawk in Realspace. The sweet, sweet taste of my first real kill. And how freaking annoying those damned V-TOLS and hovercraft were. Freaking J-Edgars....

If I remember correctly, my first mux was either 3025 or 3030? It's been a long while. People were still fairly active in the evenings back then. I tried getting back into it like, maybe a year ago, but very few people were playing. It's too bad, those games really got tense too.

If someone makes a unit for old Muxers, count me in.

LOL!! I remember the first time I tasted a wall. Wouldn't be the last, either.

I think all of us went through a similar learning process when we started. Except it wasn't a cliff that got me...it was jumping into a bad landing among the enemy and stackpoling. Fell on landing, critted my engine, exploded my ammo due to heat, which destroyed more of my engine and BOOM!

Needless to say, I got very anti-ammo for a long time after that...still am, in fact. :)

I remember going out on a Realspace site ina shiny new DV-6M Dervish and ran into a SHD-2H that fired, on the run, an LRM-5. That hit me for 1 point. Critical hit: Gyro. Gyro! *thud*

Most embarrassing loss ever!

***** I remember dueling it out in 70 ton grasshoppers in a training exercise to earn a place in a unit. Then my first assigned mech was a 55 ton dervish. Did pretty well with it until some LRM 20 critted my ammo. Death sucked as it forced me offline for days. The last mech I was assigned was a 85 ton battlemaster that I never got a chance to take out in combat.

I'd be interested in a MU* unit, too. I have played off and on for about 10 years as Bravo Walker. Started in college on 3030 with JF and Gil and those guys. Wow.

I still login to btmux.com 2950 to do tech work, but I don't have the time for long ops anymore.

I do hope the MWO devs played these games at some point and can use some of what made them so awesome. I particularly liked that different mech roles actually mattered, information was vital and that having to fight over resources actually makes the game a bit more exciting and interesting.

I'd love to see a Merc system where the unit has to pay for repairs, capture units, buy and sell equipment, stuff like that. Like Eve or Perpetuum but with less spreadsheets and more skill-based play. Personally, I don't have the skills, I'll just do the desk work. :)

Hey guys, my first post on these forums.

I haven't read through this entire thread yet, but I see a few familiar names already. Nice to see some of you still around after 17 YEARS!.
