I think some left handed mechs should be available as variants. Some mechs are not that hard to change. The Griffin, Phoenix Hawk and the Battlemaster come to mind as they carry "handheld" weapons that should not be too hard to shift. Torso mounted weapons don't need to be mirrored. Most others could be handled in the mech lab. More than the mechs, I do not want to be saddled with right handed controls.

I gotta ask, how the heck are you shooting your pistols? Any pistol I've ever shot has been held at arms length, center of my body mass.... The gun is in the same position for left-handers and right handers, the only difference being if it's the left or right hand on the trigger... LOL I'm just curious.

Oh! Yeah. I learned to shoot on a M1911 *properly* with both hands, but this actually happened when I was shooting a little .22 Barretta one-handed...it's also when I discovered I am actually right-eye- dominant. One casing went down my shirt, then I buttoned up to my collar, and the second bounced off my cheek. :D Then I tried shooting right-handed, and found I had about the same accuracy.

And you are right, MaddMaxx, but *finding* those specialized left-handed versions of common appliances isn't nearly as easy...common household scissors can be bought at any gas station, convenience store or supermarket, yet left-handed scissors? Not so much. (then again, it may be easier for ye Mainlanders. :P )

Well you can order cars for left or right driving, but you can't change it easily in an already existing car!
I would go with canon. No company would do it if it wouldn't be a pressure from a higher instance. Just think about the costs!!!!
CANON!

CANON!

And that would be the main point!!!

The car factories in Japan and some European countries in export car (Left-handed drive) to other countries while they ALSO produce domestic cars with right-hand drive.

And not to mention the other options such as manual/auto transmission etc

edit: wrong quote

You realize of course that you aim with a joystick and the computer aims the weapons for you, right? Right/left handed has nothing to do with mechs since you don't directly control the weapons.

My main point about this was stated before, but I didn't see many people notice it. If most 'mecha and variants have their goodies all clustered up in their right arm/torso, many people will take advantage of this and always try to aim for the right side of an enemy 'mech. Thinking about this now, I think I have to change my vote.

If you let players mirror their 'mechs, it allows crafty players to use it to their advantage. An opponent that isn't paying as much attention as he should, or maybe a decent pilot that doesn't have enough time to properly aim, and they go for the right side of your 'mech, you've just saved all of your weapons and equipment an entire salvo of damage, which is what your "useless" side should be being used for in the first place.

Switching 'mech "handedness" is a waste of time.

However, I still want a Marauder with the AC/5 shifted below the torso, like a giant b0ner...

Just pray Alex models the Mackie after the 'Mr. Happy' Ral Partha miniature. :)
