Understandable. Derek (AKA Rick) and you should meet up. His character is hurting for $ and he could use the company. Plus his character is a damned good tech, and it never hurts to have a good tech as a friend/comrade.

Definitely. MacabreDerek has Rick, a pudgy mechanic with aspirations of MechWarrioring, and is one of the best realised characters here.

I cant believe I missed this, but Thank You Sparks, running cross it made my day

Dont worry about it too much, same thing happens for me. It's one of the reasons I dont actively persue my own story archs in this forum, because the interaction and off-the-cuff stuff seems to work better with people.

Good post btw. I am still not sure if I should just cross off the half-fast-attempt on building up some drama on Rick's part and just focus on what people seem to enjoy reading, which is his interactions with other players and the results of those conversations.

Thanks for telling me about Chaos and vice versa BTW

Personally I tend to pick a start point and a goal, and then write until I get there. Picking a specific end point for me tends to end up a little awkward around the edges, especially when I get to it, but if all I have is an objective, I tend to get there okay. The last post with Jack and Erin being a perfect example. With talking to Erin, I knew what result I wanted, ie, Jack doesn't mind leaving, and still has an excuse for staying without appearing whimsical. But I also wanted to crash the news van.
I liked the conversation, I still really think the writing was incredibly clumsy with the stuff on the proving ground.

Your posts aren´t clumsy . Mine are.

@Rogue Sorry I didn't get a chance to post, homie. Ended up staying way late at work, then had to run some errands and RL bullsh!t afterward. Will try (really.) to respond to ya tomorrow..

No worries buddy, I wasn't expecting a rapid reply xD
@Chaos, so far I've liked your posts  If you're not sure about a post, do what I do - PM it to Thom first. I'd PM Gozar, but he hasn't posted here in a while - plus, 3 years of RP has taught me it's much easier to trick the GM into letting you do something if he has a character at stake!

Thanks, we're standing at a full company right now, with a couple iRL friends looking to join. Speaking of which, I don't suppose any of you would be interested in joining...?

Rogue you mind having Jack run into that ISF agent, later after I post again? I'm going to have Dylan play a deadly game of cat and mouse with her...

What exactly do you have in mind?
I don't see an IC reason Jack would want to be involved xD
He's pretty much all about #1 and she's not after him or anyone he knows.
Plus, didn't it get set up she wasn't ISF, she was LOKI, sent by von Bremen or something? I'd need to reread.

Hmmmm... Can't argue with that. The ultimo badass villian in my friends D&D game always shows up like a bad penny... Despite of how many times he's been killed...

We haven't had that yet, fortunately. Ultimately though, it's only a matter of time...
I've shoehorned my own character into the campaign I'm running this summer. Part of that is just I can troll people with how much better he is than they are (My players are currently level 1, where the max level is 8, my character is using the expansion and is level 9) and the other main part and how I actually justify it is that IC it makes sense that he could be there, for a few reasons, and OOC, the only campaign I ever ran before was famed for it's utter lack of balance.
Minor mook fight: Play time - 3 hours, PCs killed - 2. Players knocked to criticals - all.
Boss fight: Play time - 20m, PCs killed - 0. Players knocked to criticals - One, who was shot in combat by another PC.
So if I throw more at them than they can handle, I want someone around who can wipe it out before too many of them die!

Totally. Been in plenty of games like that... a leve 9 though.... I don't know about that. PCs will be relying on that dude, heavily.

Have you thought of having them start as level 3 characters? This conversation just reminded me about how much I hate level based systems.

Progression is handled pretty well in Dark Heresy - damage and soak is primarily handled purely on wargear - xp just buys you better stats (very expensive) and new abilities, most of which aren't directly combat related. I'm basically having him trailing around in the background. So far, he's done no talking to NPCs and was not present for the only fight they were in - but he was moving to catch up with them, so he could have jumped in if needed. None of the guys have played before, so I'm giving them level 1 chars while they learn the ropes, and once we've done this arch level them to the start of rank 4 so they can get some abilities to play with.

Jack's not so much mustachioed as he is bearded - a big, bushy one. Slightly curled, hangs down from the weight but still has a bit of spring to it. The moustache matches it. He's also fat, but it's more a couple inches of padding from an uncareful diet - he's a strong man with simple tastes. Other than that the description was pretty good!
