Great post Macabre! Quite enjoyed reading that ^^

I love the smell of RP in what passes for my morning.

Really? I personally was disappointed with it, was having a hard time doing much more than baiting questions to advance a discussion while making it sound like I knew what I was talking about..... er...um... I mean Thanks!

Did alot of posting the past few days, itchin to see the responces. :)

You did a pretty good job of making stuff up on the fly I thought :)
Half the time I'm unsure whether you've just read everything Battletech ever posted, or just really really good at coming up with canon sounding fluff.

Do some research on Sarna to get some ideas, throw in some made-up home-made solutions, talk about common problems with metals and the like, and try to make it sound universal enough that a player can Yay-or-Nay it without it sounding like 'a matter of fact'. Hence I often use damage, but become bewildered as to how it happened. I personally thought the joke of Jump Jets on a Stalker to be halarious, so I made mention to it.

If you are not sure if I am just filled with bull or if I actually know what I know, then I think I did my job correctly, wouldn't you agree?

I'd say so :)
You probably put more work into it than most canon writers!
How do you know about the common problems with metal? You actually a tech?

Nope, Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Illustrator and 3D Graphic Artist. Aside from watching too much TV, my old man provides alot of insperation for Rick in that he's self-taught repair-jock. He bought himself 2 diesel drills and has learned to strip, clean and maintain them. Since I worked with him for a summer I got a tiny tiny TINY amount of experience wrench-pulling. I try to imagine those little odds in ends of maintaining an 8 ton drill could apply to a 85 ton Battlemech.

I'm always surprised how much work graphics artists put into things. Friends with a few of them (I'm on a gaming course at a games-centric uni, so it's kind of inevitable!) and the stuff they stick on their blogs...
One of them spent all last night studying quantum physics and railway guns to design this:

That's some really good work. I still need to work on my drafting skills.

Not sure where to go with Chaos, gladly will help with the repair of the mech, but am currently trying to think up of a loose arc to follow when dealing with Elizabeth. Never realized she actually didn't have functioning legs. Even with the advancement of artifical limbs (Which is probably the only bit I was happy about Clan tech, in their medical advancements are farther ahead than their technological advancements of the Inner Sphere.), I'd imagine being a battlemech pilot with artifical legs must be very difficult.

Well, I'll keep it going just in hopes of dragging something up that will make for some interesting conflict/resolution.

What exactly do you have in mind?
I don't see an IC reason Jack would want to be involved xD
He's pretty much all about #1 and she's not after him or anyone he knows.
Plus, didn't it get set up she wasn't ISF, she was LOKI, sent by von Bremen or something? I'd need to reread.

First off SHE as in the assassin was ISF, the one that had been sent to knock a lot of us off, and I was wondering... to help play into the LOKI, ISF Shadow War here, she would select another target, and therefore, go after that person. Dylan, now being informed to keep tabs on all the other pilots will be discreetly keeping track of everyone else, and trying to get the assassin before she makes another strike. So, it would be in Jack's best interests to get her out of the picture, permanently. ISF is trying to sabotage LOKI's op, so, we'd be caught in the crossfire.

No offense here mate, but in the original topic it said leave all big stuff to the GMs (I think an ISF assassin trying to TPK counts) so I'd like to get some GM verification before getting involved.

As for your logic, agreed - but if Dylan, a man he's never met, and this ISF woman, who he's never met, start shooting the hell out of each other, he's not going to get involved - at best he'd stick around to see what happens. If Dylan joins the Rainbow stables beforehand (Has he? I'm having trouble keeping track of who has and who's just been approached) and has been introduced to Jack, he'd be willing to get involved and take her out.

Dylan is in with Rainbow, and Thom has approved. And I said the ISF agent is going after someone else.

Just reread your post - the bit where von Bremen (LOKI agent) says she (Erin?) won't be as lenient next time you try and hack their databases made me think Dylan was wrong and the ISF woman was really some LOKI hired hitmob. From what you've said, I've misread that, mind clearing it up for me xD

What von bremman was getting at was that dylan had not been punished for his earlier action of hacking into the mainframe. This is a small reprimand and a reminder of who is in charge.

*Authorative GM voice* Dylan thinks she is ISF. But is she?

When I think of the ISF I think of the ninja's that attacked the mining colony on Styx in the Warrior Trilogy; crazy fanatics armed with SMG's and katanas. Attacking with something as simple as a knife just doesn't feel right to me considering that this person would have access to (incert weapon name here.)

@ Rogue I'll try to edit my last post in the IC forum when I get time and not so damned tired... only slept 3 hours last night and worked a 16 hour day...

For those of you confused as to why Rick was alowed in with a Heavy mech when lights and mediums were asked for, I offer this one post in another forum that occurs AFTER the Solaris RP.

http://mwomercs.com/...post__p__473089

I am actually really proud of this post, and I hope I am forgiven for linking a different RP, but i think it needs to be stressed WHY I am not pressing to get into any of the Stables or focusing around the Solaris Arena Combat like many of the other posts seems to be drifting to.

Enjoy the read.

So you're just staying a tech and not doing any fighting?

Well, aside from being incompident at the stick, what real opprotunity is there for him, and who's really going to want to watch an amature like him go at it? Solaris 7 is all about the c-bills, and quite frankly aside from using him to fix other people's messes, no one is going to give him a shot to do anything else to earn them. But that's Rick's lot in life, knew that when I wrote him. The point is for him to move past it, I think. In the current situation, he's a tech with some reputation, but he isn't a mechwarrior like the rest of the cast.

Edit: Not that I am complaining (After reading I felt it sounded like I was). I am more interested in the personal stories, because I cant write a mech combat situation to save my life without using a few cliches so often as to bury them. That and I dont think anyone here would argue that it's priming up to be a cluster-luck situation when it comes to mech combat in the near future.

Sparks is here, just been busy.

The game jam went really well. Unexpectedly well. As in, "we took first place locally and people are already trying to buy a game we've just spent 48-hours developing" well. The downside to that being that we've been looking at converting our team into a micro-studio and selling this thing, probably either through Steam or Google Play, which has taken up a lot of this week's writing time. o.O (squidden.posterous.com if anyone's interested. No, it's not about giant robots. At all. It's about a squid. Who's hidden.)

Writing some stuff today, hopefully. :)
