Dear Madame,

On a serious note, I will try to post something tomorrow night, just finished 8 hours of training so I am pretty much dead and shall now proceed to drink as much Weißbier as is humanely possible.

Also on an unrelated note, to all Falcon RPers, I believe Mac and I are ahead, so we are waiting for the rest of you to catch up, just a friendly reminder.

Guardian you're several hours late - DeMarkus was heading to the arena at 06:30 and had left by the time Jack arrived at ~13:30
I'd ask for the IC logic train by which Dylan works out the assassin is going for DeMarkus but I suspect it would be 'He just did because Dragoon' :D

As for the JF, Sloth and Phase will be posting soon with any luck. Sloth's been having some mental block and I think Phase is AFK for a while again.

He was headed there at 6:30? He said he would be there that afternoon? HAAR CHAK, if I have to retcon that post, dammit.

Didn't mean to throw a monkey wrench into whatever plans you had, D just has a bunch of stuff I want to do...

But IC I do have to ask, how would Dlyan know the assassin would be going after me, when he hasn't even met me?

Saw me on the news? Not too sure about that last post Homie... Around that time D should be leaving the dump, maybe you two just missed each other. Very possible with the 20 or so people prepping the place for the match. Erecting stands (are these people crazy?) setting up cameras, vending booths, whatever.

Oh yeah and I totally forgot Von Bremen can't make it, he has Jacks apology to worry about..

I just don't understand how by seeing the dot of laser(which is pretty tiny) one can easily deduce where a "sniper" is...

Second by any logic the assassin should not be employing a laser for a rifle(which makes no sense at all, since most rifles are used at ranges where lasers are useless or simply not practical).

Third "dodging" bullets comes off as slightly silly and also strange as what sort of "professional" manages to be such a poor shot that they fail to hit a target with multiple shots. That of course means ignoring the point of why would the assassin even try to start a firefight, is she trying to get caught?

I hate to be critical but the entire thing with Dylan, Draco, Phiroh, the assassin, etc. comes across as so Mary Sueish and essentially I feel like I am watching some over the top action movie.

Okay... I keep hearing about this term/name Mary Sue.... so I gotta ask, Who the HELL, is Mary Sue?

That being said, I'm thinking that GW is just trying to add some excitement and action. Whereas I enjoy the roleplay, plot building, and political intrigue, well my lame attempt at it anyways. I just wish I was a better writer and had more time to do it.

You see, Dylan is still relatively new to the Sphere, which means, that those mistakes, I made, were on purpose. The assassin followed him, to try and get to another target, you see what I am getting at here?

The reason the laser was used, was to a) give a small insight into our assassin's mind, and  show some of the assassin's mindset. Aka, she is really sick, and likes to **** with her targets, just to see them squirm. And the dodging bullets part, was more of Dylan jumping for cover, not seeing the shot, and then going Enter the Matrix on the ****. He also missed the fact that the place he dived behind was some sort of compressed gas containers, not good to hide behind. And lastly to answer your first question, Dylan had checked everywhere BUT the actual grounds.

Thom, the TVTropes page on a Mary Sue: http://tvtropes.org/...hp/Main/MarySue
The line that sums it up best would be:

Quote

She's exceptionally talented in an implausibly wide variety of areas, and may possess skills that are rare or nonexistent in the canon setting. She also lacks any realistic, or at least story-relevant, character flaws — either that or her "flaws" are obviously meant to be endearing.

@Guardian, confused at what you mean in your last post?

Dylan is an original Dragoon right? They showed up in 3005 - so Dylan has been here for 26 years. Also not sure how the assassin following Dylan gives him an automatic insight into what she's thinking, right down to knowing she'll go after characters he doesn't even know exists.

As for the laser, from the distances you seem to be talking about, the laser would do nothing but alert her target, which plays into the 'd*ck with her target' aspect. But the ISF does not do that to people they intend to kill. They're designated for one or the other - and if death is the point, the target dies. Quickly, silently, with no evidence left. A quick Sarna search would tell you that - there's dozens of tales I've come across - Operation Serpent being a prime example.
Big thing I've noticed with writing (Especially fanfics) is it doesn't matter what you mean it's what people read. I always read over what I write before posting - just to try and make sure I don't write something that comes off in a way I don't intend it to! Obviously there's exceptions (Like when Jack fought the guards - I thought Thom had posted them outside the dorm, I misread it, but having written it, I didn't want to waste the effort. Very quickly once Thom/James started replying I realized I had no idea where it was going, because the original premise had changed!) but I'm working on getting better at eliminating those xD
Just food for thought.

I basicly put the gurads messing with Jack in the dorms as Erin messing with Jack. Becuase nobody else was checked for contraband... That being said, she could of had them checking him for booze considering his love for drink.

True that, but rereading the posts, it's very clear neither of us were entirely sure what to do next - you thought I had a plan, and my original plan no longer applied, so the posts became a little awkward (At least to me, but I'm a bit paranoid, especially once I start nitpicking when I think I could have done something better).
Also, as for you being a better writer, it's my opinion you're one of the best writers here. I'd rank you second to Macabre, with possible competition from Vodkaviator once he gets rolling, and all second to the Legend That is Nor Azman.

I thinks he mean the cloak and dagger stuff... SAFE, LOKI, the Mask, MIIO, ISF/DEST...

Oh and @ Rogue, thanks for the compliment. That was a big confidence booster. I just hate it because I'll be at work or somewhere thinking about what I want to type and it's AWESOME. But when I get home and sit in front of the puter, nothing comes out. Or I'll be picturing something in my head and can't find the words to describe it.... That really frustrates me.

Yeah I get that all the time...I kinda want to post now, but it's 4 in the morning and I just got the Belgians away. Should have a post to rendezvous with Milago/Rick (Mac, did Rick join the Rainbows yet?). I can mod the idea for one or both. Will probably just stick it up tomorrow.
So I don't forget, in no particular order:
Radar
Code
Dan
Wipes Forehead.

Oh the Intelligence agencies? Makes sense. Still, I'm not sure how he jumped to DeMarkus IC or why the assassin is so scatterbrained. I mean, I know how I'd justify it, but I don't have a clue what's going on with Guardian.
Dammit Guardian! I miss when you used to explain your posts before posting them on steam between contests :)

Yes.

Essentially what it is intended to reference is "over powered" characters so to speak.

Characters who seemingly know way more than they logically should(i.e. figure how extensive plots that no other character manages to spot or see or manages to master skills/professions which most people spend years to learn), manage to consistently perform very difficult borderline impossible actions(soldier A manages to fight and defeat 7 foes minimum without a weapon in every battle they participate), extremely rare appearance or background history(such as John Doe is an ex special forces, secret agent, ninja, assassin, fighter pilot, submarine commander and professional dancer with cool scars and blue hair...he is also an expert painter) and seemingly wins or succeed no matter what the odds(unbeatable hero).

For me personally it is when a character becomes so unrealistic so to speak that any suspension of disbelief is ruined.

Thank you for the enlightenment players... I've been wondering about who this mary sue was for awhile now.

I'm a firm believer that it's a character's flaws that make a character interesting.

DeMarkus is a good mechwarrior, 3g/4p (pretty good, not vatbrat OPed..Hell, I think Vic Davion started out better than that.)
Has some tech skills, he does help out Kaylee/Rick or whomever working on One-Eye, but as far as I'd go is saying he could do the simplist things to any sort of degree by himself. Good martial artist (once again, haven't really gone into that.) And a good tactictian, but he's pretty much average to poor in everything else...

Oh yeah, and he's pretty smart and understands people.

As for flaws; he's scarred, both physicaly and mentally. Still has nightmares (though I don't go into it often enough. I know, bad GM.) is suffering from PTSD. And he has POWERFULL enemies, which I'm waiting for a few days to pass ingame for you all to find out about.
