Stopping the New Players getting roflstomped

this would have 2 advantages:
- New players don´t get frustrated by being roflstomped with tweaked-out Mech builds
- Experienced players get to fight against OPPONENTS and not VICTIMS
because, lets be honest:
if you do it right, you can get the same or even more damage-output as a TrialMech without even getting close to shutting down.
and i can imagine it´s not any fun getting owned by
superior-because-Mechlabbed-the-heck-out-of-it Mechs and will DEFINETELY make a lot of new players stop playing the game if it happens in 8 out of 10 matches,
and it´s definetely not much fun roflstomping new pilots in their TrialMechs, also.
(except by sitting in a TrialMech, too and winning by superior tactics/teamwork..but in that case they at least have equal chances.)
of course, as soon as a trial Mech pilot joins a group of people with Owned Mechs, this mechanic should no longer affect him

I like the idea, not every premade wants to roflstomp pugs. I dislike playing against pug´s, its no challenge at all, and it´s unfair.
Please fix this a fast as possible.

as a non gfounder but playing this gme since beginning worst is to play with a non pre-made team against full premade team with owned mech or gfounder mech
and this night that was only that sort of unfair game ...
lot of new players are frustrated and will go back to Call of duty or basic game like that and never wanna play a unfair game in MWO ... so sad but everybody could understand that

If you just pick Trial vs Trial, whats to stop very experienced players from using those just for kicks and doing exactly what you say is happening now??

Many new players think this is a FPS shooter or possibly a bad WoW battleground and mindlessly charge the enemy no matter what.
I have been picking of new player in a trial Awesome today (alone in the back of the field) it wasn't even funny and only limited by the limited supply of LRM in said mech.
Even the best matchmaking in the world cannot stop people from not using their brains and charging the enemy team one by one and getting picked of by other PUGs simply because they actually activated their "common sense" center of the brain... and the PUG groups I was in were called premades like 5 out of 10 matches (and yes I got stomped 3 times by "presumably" premades, but it was a good fight and the PUGs on my team liked to get stomped as they charged mindlessly... you know what I am getting at...)

other than that, a trial only server could be good. it may split the population though, you know what works better.......join a group. problem solved. that is the information we need to get to the puggers. if they do that, 90% of all complaints on the forums go away.

The biggest change that could happen for noobs is trial mechs that are more powerful. At least the ones out right now are far weaker in terms of damage output.

Doesn't really matter because those players still have same chances using their equipment so it goes back to being skill only duel.
But being outmatched in skill and being in inferior trial mech with 2/3 of armor and 1/4th of sustained dps is recipe for disaster.
So we need trial mech only mode for newbies.

It's a team-game afterall. The learning-curve might be a bit steep but it is manageable. I have seen PUG's that did really good, even against a coordinated team. You won't loose anything by joinging a team and there are a lot out there that don't require fixed online times. You can still run PUG's and all. I do.
PS.: If you want the challange you can always ask the 12th DG to fight you guys again Janus Wealth

So you CAN still take a trial mech, BUT, if you've played long enough to buy your own mech, then you get shoved in the same barrel the vets who would be using their own-bought mechs.
So what you'd get is a player-induced experience-seperation, where everybody's in kindergarten, playing with the same toys, until they buy their first mech. Then they get placed in with the older kids. They can still play with the toys, but they can't play with the newcomers until those newcomers reach the point of owning toys of their own.

A matchmaking system will have to separate arranged teams from pugs (in the case of not full teams finish them off with a pug or 3 since 5+ in one team makes a huge difference).

I say aye for this ideia, trials vs trials would indeed give a good enought "feel" to the new player and would keep them happy and not getting hammered by the pros.

new/trail pilots must get very frustrated getting stomped when starting this game. allowing new/trail players to play together like some sort of leveling system is one idea to stop stomping.
you already have a in game exp that could be used towards pilot level. once enough exp is gained and a certain level is attained, you get thrown into the deep end where your elo journey begins.
currently elo does not stop new players playing against veterans with upgrades.

8v8 only, 4v4 only, 3/2 man groups v 3/2 man groups and pugs v pugs.
it really is THAT simple.
and the op is right if it isnt fixed more new players will continue to leave.
