OP. yes it is beta.

this game has had what is really a short beta period. why they went "open", i think the simple answer is 90% of the problems people are complaining about will be fixed shortly and people were getting tired of continual wipes.

i have been playing firefall closed beta and they have stopped thier skill wipes, have a founders program and are selling the purchaseable ingame currency. but they are still calling it closed beta cause all in game resources will be wiped when it goes open, they are also limiting people to tier1 and tier2 gear of 5 currently.

they also have been in beta 2-3 times longer then mwo. not every developer has the same resources or operate under the same development schedule.

i dont expect every developer to do things exactly the same thats just silly.

I remember a day when beta meant it wasn't feature complete...and there were bugs.

Now people still think it means final product.

Granted a tad different in F2P games...

Now if it were a pay game do you think people would still complain about bugs or stability in a beta?

Back in the day betas involved meaningful interaction between the developer and the tester.

Now a beta is simply a forum, an inbox for bug reports, and 95% demo/free advertising... and bugs but its okay because beta.

I'm just saying where did this notion of beta == end all be all no bugs/testing involved. The notion that this guy is upset because it's still missing features and there are bugs is ridiculous.

BETA == NOT ******* DONE, AND STILL FULL OF BUGS! PRODUCTION == release/final product.
