Why use LB 10xAC when you can use the focus damaging and much cheaper to use ac10?

brought up many times before, the lb-x is currently broken due to it cannot use it's slug or standard ac ammo like it is supposed to.

Notice how often you see lb10s?

Yeah they are good in table top because they can fire either a solid shot or the cluster rounds.

They actually have longer range than the standard AC10, for less weight.

This is why the cbill cost is so high....

But we lose all its advantages so its rly just a cbill trap

1. because it's fun

2. because it's much harder to miss your target with an lbx-10

3. nobody really uses LBX10s anyway

Well, LBx's are a frontline support weapon like SRMs, and the LRMs. They are there to erode the armor down or crit seek, and have those with concentrated fire weapons to get the kill. LBx's are a different role and they do it well enough.

Having a slug option would be great too.

oh and it is useful for slapping lights too.

As I have said in many other LBX threads, its cost needs reduced to around 500k, since half the effectiveness of the weapon is not there. Its ability to switch back and forth to solid and shot. Sure its lighter, has less heat but does that justify the 800k price tag?

I personally love the LBX mainly because of the lag shooting in MWO is so shoddy. Really though not many people fear an LBX toting mech. in its current incarnation.

If they do not put the slug ammo on it, decrease it's price and make it into a real shotgun for weapons viability, not just a gimped ac/10.

As Taryys indicated, it's a very nice weapon against lights. It's also decent against mediums. I generally run it on the Hunchy ( Founders version only ).

its terrible. against lights you can have the same effect by sweeping a couple medium lasers randomly over their body.

Because 2 dual AC20 cats and 1 dual LBX10 Atlas can clean house in a brawl with teamwork.

They are worthless when dropping with PUGs.

I use the LBX's in my most recent 4X build and can deal a fairly decent amount of damage especially when you have some lasers for backup.

And besides Shotgun.

I only use it because its cool. However, the ac10 is much better. Its a 4fun weapon for me.

So i guess there is still not much of a reason to use them as they are, I though that they might have a higher crit rate since it's 10 shots i the package of one ut it doen't seems so.

I prefer LB10X over AC/10 any hour of the day!

LB10X has very little scatter, can crit seek 10x better, and what little you lose in splash damage at range, you gain in range, 1 crit slot, 1 ton (which could effectively just be 15 more shots), and heat (runs 1 heat less than AC/10, allowing you to fire more weapons more often).

I have great results with LBX10's. I routinely shred lights at medium/short range and see crits from hits. When I close in on larger targets the hits are still quite centralized where I aim and seem just as effective as regular AC's and cause crits seemingly.

Indeed, it's pretty bad for critical slot hits. Let's say you exposed a section's internals on an opponent...

Unless you're close to your target, some pellets will miss because of the spread.
Unless you're *really* close to your target, some pellets will hit armored sections around the one you're targeting.

Then whatever remaining pellets hit the internals try for crits. That's when the multiple hits really work against you.

Sure, at 43% crit chance per pellet, if you've got maybe 6 pellets hitting internals, it's highly probable you'll get at least one critical slot hit, probably two or three... but they're unlikely to all hit the same critical slot. You'll most likely do a small amount of damage to a couple items, nowhere near enough to destroy any of them. You'll have to fire your LB10-X three, four times into internals to see an effect.

Fire an AC10 into someone's exposed internals, and you get the weapon's full 10 damage on that section. You'll only have 43% chance to get a critical slot hit, but if you do get one, you're certain to destroy an item (unless it's an Engine). Fire just a couple times and it's probable you'll destroy something in there.

The LB10-X is expensive, heavy, its spread makes you waste most of its damage and nullifies its theoretically good range, it's terrible at crits, requires heavy, expensive and explosive ammo... that's one really bad weapon.

Its only upside, if you can call it that, is if you're a poor shot. With the spread, even if you don't fire directly at your target, 2 or 3 pellets might still hit it. But then a half-missed Medium Laser shot would do as much damage...

It's garbage. Kinda fun to use, but so damn terrible...

Because using the LB10X over the AC10 on the CTF-IM will let you have 3 more tons of ammo for the 3LB10X's installed. ;)

I love it in a Hunchie 4H, due to the lovely crits it causes in the bad guys. You can find out quickly who has CASE installed :-)
