Yes because those one to two games out of ten that you're actually playing a "pre-made" would make a huge difference if you're losing every match. And god forbid anyone would ever want to play an online, team-based game with their friends.
Skill/rank based matchmaking. Problem solved. New players play new players, horribad rambos play horribad rambos, and people who play as a team play against others playing as a team. It's phase 3 of the matchmaker, and it can't come soon enough.
Utter Fanbay BS Lin..
There is no reason..none..to have Premade vs PUG except PUG Farming. "One to 2 games out of ten"? Another total Load. Have you playered this game at night?..as a PUG? If you get one in six that isn't a Premade Roll you are lucky. And it's REAL friggin easy to tell When multipule LRMs 'instantly' lock on to one player..or a pack of light and medium converge on a pilot..or just from the taunts.
And No..rank based ISN'T going to change the dynamic.
First, developing an algorithm that can handle judging a persons skill level in every different scenario this game is (supposedly) going to provide will take years of tuning.. and have you ever played a game that has got it right? Ever?
Second, The majority of the players of this game are going to be PUG for as long as the game is growing. At "least" 40% of all players ARE NEVER GOING TO PLAY IN UNITS. They don't want 'Internet' friends, they don't want to talk in the game, they don't want to wait for teammates, they enjoy Personal combat as an individual..in a group of individuals..against another group of individuals. They want to play WHENEVER they have a couple of hours to spend and don't want to go through all the Fanboy BS just to play a game.
This game died before FOR THIS EXACT SAME REASON. Units would drop together, wipe the floor with any new player dumb enough to try the game..then the new players quit coming.. and the Fanboy Units will NEVER be enough to support the game. There will Always be more Pick-up gamers on the Internet than team players..for Any game. A much smaller percentage of the PUG players here will want to join units. It was the same for the old game. If the Devs don't give PUGs a place to fight ONLY PUGs then the new player queue is going to shrink to a trickle.. then when the first two funding rounds are burned, investors are going to look at the declining new player adoption numbers and laugh..and they are going to need another investment round. They are already missing milestones, and the game is really starting to get a bad reputation in social media. This is a bad BAD trajectory for a game I love to play.
